I believe the Spurs are without Duncan but they beat the Mavs without him if I read correctly.

The Suns do not need to be winning at this stage of the season but they are playing with a lot of energy since Hunter became HC. I keep waiting for talent to meet reality which should be tonight.

The Spurs seem to have a plug and play system in SA. It seems like almost every player seamlessly fills a role.

The Spurs do not do anything fancy. It is all coaching and execution.

Quite true, but there is talent there also.

Steve

I'm not taking away anything away from their talent (they are talented) but their execution is so precise it's scary. They are more than the sum of their parts. That's why they win so consistently.

I agree, they're always very well coached. You'd probably be surprised though at how many fans have been calling for Pop's head the past few years. I didn't frequent it often but it always struck me as odd when I'd check out a Spurs forum and see thread after thread calling for a new direction.

The Spurs fans must be spoiled. They do not know how good they have it. If Hunter does not have the HC position locked up for the Suns they might want to look at their assistant coaches for candidates.

Well, to be fair, I don't know the posters there all that well. It's quite possible that much of this talk is generated by a small handful of clueless fans. Still, it always surprised me as an occasional visitor.

I'm from San Antonio and a Spurs fan and I think what you notice is more of an indication of the people who tend to post on forums (the disgruntle types where nothing is ever right for them). I can safely say that if Pop had been released as coach of this team during his tenure so far...there would be mass scale mourning in SA lol

Was Gentry this bad of a coach? This team is playing well. Excellent defense and pretty good offensive execution.

I am wondering if Gentry was a good coach for a Nash systerm, but we need a completely different philosophy post-Nash.

Suns can't even tank right. This team will not make the playoffs. Instead we will get the #12-#14 lottery pick if we keep playing like this and win against teams who have key guys out with injuries.

Hopefully the Spurs can come back and win this one. How embarrassing it would be for them to lose to the worst team in the league at home.

What is going on with Beasley's dome? Looks like the last braided samuri. Looks like that US female olympic track star that was juicing.

I'm sure you're right but still, it struck me as odd. This team has so obviously been well coached during his tenure, it's amazing that there is even one fan calling for his head.

Well, see, there's their problem. Apparently the Spurs are having to play us and Charlotte at the same time. And I don't think we'll actually win this game, the Spurs close out much better than we do.

haven't watched a game in a long while now, but finally saw beas make a quick-ish decision and go straight to the rim.
