god I dont like this

Saric sucks in my opinion and is a rental.

I will be pretty mad if Garland is available at 6.

I'm not sure if I buy this. The Suns feel they can roll with Tyler Johnson if need be.

“and grab a point guard in free agency”

That suggests they aren’t looking to simple roll with Tyler.

Watch Minny flip the pick for a better deal.

Our frontcourt defense will be talked about a lot on here next year lol. Don’t get me wrong it would’ve been bad regardless whether it was Warren, Randle or a rookie so I’m not just complaining to complain but yeeeeesh.

I think the Suns know they have someone who can play alongside Booker in Tyler so this takes the pressure off in the draft and free agency. The Suns can't be forced into doing something they don't want to do. In past seasons they could be help for ransom because of need there.

I do think the Suns will solidify the point guard situation in free agency, maybe even in a big way.

still firmly in wait and see mode until FA and we see if/when we sign an impact maker at PG.

If they really ride into next season with Tyler Johnson as starter at PG, blow my brains out. Hoping that won't be the case.

Who would you consider an impact maker at pg?

Russel or Brogdon. I'm betting we ship Jackson to Siberia and have to use the Bucks pick to do it.

or we make a strong offer to Tyus Jones as a RFA and then use the leftovers to get another banger at the 4 in some way shape or form.

Exactly. Value-wise I'm not a fan of these moves, but positionally it makes sense if they get an impact PG.

Honestly there were more guys projected in the 11 range I liked better than those projected at 6 aside from Hunter.

I agree. Those are the two, and only two, I would consider impactful (Kyrie and Kemba aren't coming here of course). There being only two makes me nervous.

Yes, no matter how you slice it, the Suns downgraded today - both on draft position and on the court. I don't know how anyone can fool themselves into thinking anything differently.

If you want to hold out hope that they will do something amazing with all of that so called cap space, than I guess you can hold out hope. But I will not be shocked when that turns out to be a pig in a poke, too.

Our roster probably downgraded today (so far) but our lineup, maybe not. If we stay healthy, I think 82 games of Saric and Oubre is far better than 43 games of TJ Warren and 40 games of Oubre.

First thing I thought when I saw the Warren trade was using the Bucks pick to unload JJ.

Jones better be sure he's going to land his guy in FA. He did get his guy for HC so I'm willing to see how it all plays out.

It could well happen.

You still think it's too early to say James Jones is a disaster as a GM, even more so than McDonough?

Are you having problems with the forum loading? I'm having lots of issues.

That was simply a bad trade.

In 2016 we paid two 1st rounders for moving up from #13 to 8. Now we just assisted MIN to make the same jump which ended up higher.

Saric as a nothing special NBA player was a very small price for that. Basically we helped MIN to draft Culver using the very limited assets they had.

I think that it is not given at all that Saric will stick in the NBA after his rookie-deal will expire.

You mean to draft Culver? That's who Minnesota took from what I understand.

Saric has been a solid to good staring quality stretch PF for 2 years now. I think it is fair to assume that he will stick around the league just fine at this point. Sure he will almost certainly never be a star player, but not everyone on your roster or even in your starting lineup can be a star player. Some players need to be role players and Saric has been a good role player to this point in his career.

Right now, we have nothing but role players outside of Booker and Ayton. An NBA team needs more than two above average players.
