ATL trade
Glenn Robinson
Chris Crawford
2003 1st rounder from IND (#21)
two 2004 2nd rounders (ORL's and PHI's)

ATL get
Charlie Ward
Brevin Knight
2003 1st rounder from PHO (#17)

MEM trade
Brevin Knight
Wesley Person
2003 1st rounder from SAC via ORL (#25)

MEM get
Latrell Sprewell
two 2004 2nd rounders (ORL's and PHI's)

NYK trade
Latrell Sprewell
Charlie Ward

NYK get
Glenn Robinson
Wesley Person
Chris Crawford

PHO trade
2003 1st rounder (#17]

PHO get
2003 1st rounder from IND via ATL (#21)
2003 1st rounder from SAC via ORL via MEM (#25)

TRADE ACCEPTED

Why could ATL do it?

They move Robinson who didn't live up to expectations in ATL.They get expiring contracts for him. Moreover Ward doesn't have just an expiring contract but he has a 2 mil. buy-out clause what is worth gold at Terry's resigning. They move up 4 spots in the 1st round for their future SF.Knight knows well the Hawks and he can be servicable as a reliable,1st-pass backup PG.They get rid of Crawford's contract.

Why could MEM do it?

They get a veteran leader SG who is a good perimeter defender.

Why could NYK do it?

They get a true SF who still has one of the finest mid-range J's in NBA.Person can be a very good sharps-shooter 6th man.

Why could PHO do it?

I used the actual ranking of nbadraft.net
They get two lower 1st rounders for one. They take Zaur Pachulia at #21 and Chris Thomas at #25. Pachulia is a raw, but mobile and dynamic PF/C who could fit well to Frank Johnson's small lineups.Thomas is one of the best playmakers on this year's draft who will be a fine backup of Marbury.

Bad idea.

At #17, there aren’t going to be a lot of guys on the board that we really like.

If there is somebody on that board that we like at #17, we grab him. We don’t trade down and risk that somebody else will take him off the board at #18, #19, or #20.

If there isn’t somebody on the board that we like, why trade for picks that are just going to bring us two guys that we’re not crazy about?

Even if we do manage to get two good young players with the two draft picks, that would bring us to nine good young players that we see as part of our future. (The other seven: Steph, Shawn, Amare, JJ, Casey, and the two Jakes.) We need a balance of young players and veterans on the team, so nine may be pushing it. And with the expansion draft coming up next season, and us able to protect only eight players from the expansion draft, we’d just lose one of these guys anyway.

The only reason we’d make a deal like this is if we really don’t know whom we want in the draft, and we decide that taking two players at #21 and #25 gives us a better chance that one of them will pan out than taking one player at #17.

We could probably acquire another late or mid first round pick by trading the Cavs future protected pick.

There are always some teams looking to get rid of their first rounder.

Imagine the contract problems in 3-4 years!

If there's nobody we really like at #17 wouldn't it just be better to trade our pick for a future first round pick straight up? I'm sure they would have any problems finding a taker.

Yes, I basically made this trade because I thought that (based on what I have read about him) Zachulia -as our future C- and (based on what I saw from him) Thomas-as a very good true PG- would probably fit well to Suns' future plans.
