I think he did fantastic under Sarver. Ishibia comes in, and he's doing what he can, but when you have a new owner who wants what he wants, it's either do what he wants or hit the bricks. I think Jones has a real eye for talent, drafting Dunn and Camara, etc, in the latter end of the draft, but owners in the NBA ultimately control things. signing Tyus Jones was great. I don't think trading for Beal was Jones' idea. I think that's Ishbia forcing a super team. I could be wrong on that, but that's the sense I get.

I don't think it fits into neat categories like Jones gets credit for the "good moves" while Ishbia gets blamed for the "bad moves."

I think that was a classic need over best available. We really NEEDED a PF. I think you draft Haliburton, then you can eventually trade him for a PF.
Is it though? CP3 wasn't exactly a spring chicken at that point. Yes, we needed a PF. We STILL need a PF, lol.

And the Suns needed a center and oops, they traded him away for essentially Nurkic and Allen.
But the Center we had, became a cancer on the team. You could totally see the body language of the players when Ayton kept turning it over from lack of attention, where they were beyond being mad. They just seemed resigned over it. There were almost whole games where they wouldn't pass it to him anymore.

I don't agree with it, but when you do have a PG but no PF, you can push that PG position down the road a bit.
Sometimes talent trump need. Haliburton was projected a top 4(?) pick and we passed him at the 10th pick? Sticks was projected late 1st? I love James Jones, but that was a huge reach.

Ayton still frustrates me, even watching him on the Blazers. all the talent, none of the fire. You see it in spurts. Too many late nights playing video games, me thinks.

Book the only one being active and putting in some effort. Everyone else’s body language stinks.

So the Suns traded Ayton for a center they won't even play?

I think this brings Book closer to his breaking point with this team. He was locked in. Even not deferring to KD for once.

Camara drives right down the middle to score.

And no one bothers to guard him again.

Is there a mod online that can change my 'Welcome to the age of Ayton' sub-title on my handle? That used to be a thing but I've gone through all the edit profile settings and I can't find that option anymore.
