The trade for Luka was there. The team barely plays defense and trading for Luka would basically hurt the team more. A Suns game would just be like a shoot around practice.

Sometimes talent trump need. Haliburton was projected a top 4(?) pick and we passed him at the 10th pick? Sticks was projected late 1st? I love James Jones, but that was a huge reach.

He was such an unknown when we got him, I went back and watched his college highlight tapes. There was a play in a game where they set screens, I believe it was two guys, for him to shoot a three to win a game and he swished it! He looked like a hidden raw talent. Not saying that's what JJ should have gone by, but it was at the time we got rid of our scouting department. Suns did have him in for a workout. I imagine it must have been super impressive. What I took out of it, he was WAY overrated as a shooter, but WAY underrated as a shot blocker. The one good talent he had was timing up blocked shots.

In the end would I have wanted Haliburton if you could go back in a Time Machine? Of course! I tend to look at things as why they were playing out at the time. Not as, well they should have done this instead. Heck we can all do that. There's arguments I have had with my wife, that in hindsight I wouldn't have done.

It wasn't who was missing, but HOW the Suns played. The defense was flying all over switching the best ever, and it looked how I bet Coach Bud drew it up. Followed by guys just going through the motions against Portland.

Too little effort on defense, running back, going for rebounds. Why does Bud stick with players coasting? Just bench them and get next man up. I hope that stings their pride to see end of bench guys playing. But probably not gonna work. Just chillin.

Monte Morris. IDK, Tyus has been balling. It's mostly a whole team thing on the defensive end. Even the back ups being in. It is also the same in reverse, like when we played Golden State, when the starters bring it the back ups did too.

Do you gets Suns feeds out there? I know the commentary team, EJ and KRay, often talk about how KD and Book will argue their way back into the game or keep themselves on the floor. It's not something they've said once either, it's a weekly issue. Bud is juggling egos and directives from the front office while trying to win. Monty, for all his faults, had the team under his control until things imploded. I think Bud is trying to keep an implosion from happening.

Yeah, I've got League Pass with EJ and KRay every game. I usually watch them the next day because games start in the middle of the night or 3 in the morning.
