Question: If Mikal were to win DPOY either this year or possibly later in his career, he’d also be eligible for a super max if I’m not mistaken?

I'm only winging it but Bridges wasn't signed to the max so I would say no.

Of course there may be incentives I know nothing about.

Maybe it could be included in a future contract.

He already signed his extension. Those qualifiers only apply to players signing their first extension, after that every player qualifies based on years of service.

Ok so once Mikal reaches 7-8 years of service in the NBA, if he were to win DPOY or make All-NBA, he technically would be eligible for a Supermax. If Book makes All-NBA this year, he’ll be eligible for the Supermax. Right now it looks like the guards will be Steph, Ja, Book, CP3, Luka, Trae. Zach LaVine and Donovan Mitchell look to be on the outside looking in. It’ll be interesting if Sarver would pony up cash for Book and Ayton as we would fall into the luxury tax.

There is no way to keep a team together with two supermax and one max player plus all the rest of the crew. We will have to win it all now and then flip som vets into younger players.

Oh no I was just more so looking at what the requirements were not that we would be able to pay 3 guys that amount of cash. Right now, just wanna focus on this season obviously and getting the mission accomplished

OKC is a textbook to study if a team does it wrong.

Mikal finding his mid-range jumper and post-up game has been huge. Due to his wingspan, he is near-impossible to block. I really like it when he cuts to the middle or rolls to the middle after setting a screen. He gets the ball and it's deadly. He either shoots over his man, passes it to the three-point shooter if that defender cuts him off, or it leaves the big man open under the basket if the opposing big comes over to Mikal.

That’s why the Jalen Smith thing hurts so much. We actually had a big in waiting at cheap cost and for at least another couple years before we could have flipped him for picks down the line.

The Suns are the most clutch team in history (since the stat has been tracked - 26 seasons):

3. Dallas '06-07: 32-6, .842
4. Miami '12-13: 32-8, .800

Clutch Minutes
Suns #1 Offensively - 136.6 points per 100 possessions
Suns #1 Defensively - 90.1

Clutch Wins
Suns #1 - 23-3

OK... still about 24 games left in the season after the break. But I'll say it right now. This has been the most enjoyable and satisfying season of a team I love, that I have ever experienced. The superlatives are endless. Does this season need to be finished off with a championship? Not really... I mean, yea - it would be the perfect ending to a near perfect season. However, I think we know about the vagaries that are at play and much luck/good fortune factor into championships. That said, I'd be pretty disappointed if this team doesn't win the West and play in its' second consecutive championship series. If they do and lose, I'm certain I will be seriously bummed in the moment. But damn... this season is providing ALL of the good feels!

Yeah at some point this season will be all about how it ends but along the way it's been an incredible ride.

yup. i'm having a ball. and watching with total sense of calm. they're just a joy to watch. I'm not even getting mad or anxious when they blow a big lead. will I post that Monty shoulda gotten a timeout earlier here and there. sure. but I've been almost 100% confident we will answer any run with one of our own at this point.

just a great ride so far.

It's not the news I wanted to hear. Suns might want to look at a buyout point guard.
