i'm sure this comes as little surprise to all of you, but i agree with cheese. this one is a war again that goes 6. reasons:

phil is a GREAT playoffs coach.

phil muddies up the game. the irony of which is he used to bleat to the media when the knicks did the same to his bulls of old. seems he learned his lesson well. if you don't have the talent to match up, make the game ugly and put the onus on the refs to keep it clean, which they are loathe to do in the playoffs.

kobe will win one game single-handedly.

this suns team never seems to play with urgency until they have to.

i live in the greater LA area and work with rabid lakers fans (though they are so lame that they don't even follow through on bets they lost on the series last year), so i have to suffer a long arduous series. it is my fate.

in the end though . . . DB

I want to say Suns in 4 but then we would have a full week off before playing the Spurs/Nugs. I really think these playoffs will follow '05, sweep in the first, 4-2 in the second, but we'll be on the better side of the 4-1 Western Conference Championship. I love being a homer..

Suns in 5. You know at least one game is going to come down to the wire with the ball in Kobe's hand.

Suns in 7. If they are up 3-2, they'll sleepwalk through Game 6 knowing that they have one more home game in hand. And how often has a Phil Jackson team been eliminated at home?

I was going to say 6, but since Raja Bell was on the Jim Rome show today, I'll go with 5.

Lakers in 6 or 7. This is not an anticurse. LA is just getting healthy at the right time and Jackson will use Odom, Kwame Brown, and Bynum to control Amare.

We double-team Kobe so much and do so much switching, Luke Walton will kill us.

I'm not sure. It's what I fear. If the Lakers are the same Lakers of February and March, we'll beat them in 5 games. But I don't think they will be, or at least I fear they won't be.

I've actually changed my mind on our chances of beating the Spurs or Dallas. I used to think we'd lose to both but now I think those series would be toss-ups.

I'm a pessimist about the Suns against LA because of my scars. You have to understand, I started going to Suns games in 1976. How many of you here have that kind of history? I've seen us lose to LA in person in more ways and times than I care to remember.

Just because I don't post here often doesn't mean I'm not a huge fan. Unlike many of you, I think D'Antoni is a first rate coach and it bothers me to see him criticized for staying loyal to his system and beliefs.

If we just had one 6'11" or taller rebounder and agile defender to give us 12 minutes a game against the Duncans and other western big men, I think we'd win it all. The guy wouldn't need to be a scorer.

Thanks for asking. I stay away a lot because I don't want to a negative drag on the board. I hate it when guys are always pessimistic on the Cards board.

I swear to god if the lakers somehow managed to beat us in the 1st round it will be one long hell of a offseason from all the lakers fans coming to this board and giving it to us... But I still think the suns will win this series in 5 or 6 games

screw the board - imagine how bad it would be LIVING IN LA, where ALL your friends who you see everyday are Laker fans.

to be honest, I don't expect to beat SA, so, with that being said and figuring we're out in the 2nd round anyway, from where I stand (and live), this is the freaking NBA Finals as far as I'm concerned.

Why do people keep bringing up Kobe Bryant? If he continues playing the way he has been down the stretch of the season - i.e. in my opinion as well as anybody has ever played - the Lakers will be tough to beat, but they'll be very beatable.

I level a lot of criticism on Shawn Marion, often unfairly so, but there really isn't an aspect of Lamar Odom's game that Marion can come close to containing. A lot of people say that Marion can't guard Odom in the post - that's true - but he also can't stop his perimeter game, he can't stop his slashing game, he can't keep him off the offensive glass, and he can't stop him from instantly realizing all of his potential that people have talked about since Odom's college days. Supposedly, Odom has to purge by induced vommiting before every game against the Suns because he gets so full and bloated when he eats such a huge portion Shawn Marion's breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And mid-afternoon snack. And midnight snack (which goes right to his thighs, by the way).

It'd be one thing if Odom simply dominated Marion in the post. That would be okay, because Amare probably can neutralize that with his play on the other end. But he also can't keep Odom off the offensive glass, which makes it much more difficult to get out and run. Then, if Marion actually does box Odom out, it leaves the rebound to somebody like Kwame Brown or Ronnie Turiaf or some other guy. Odom might be a little injured, but I'm sure it's nothing a little Marion can't fix.

He is always wrong and should stick to football.
