In a back to back game, the Phoenix Suns didn’t skip a beat in a 123-108 victory over the Mavericks Saturday night. They were ahead the whole way, and cruised to a win to improve to 16-10. The Mavericks are now 15-12.
Eric Bledsoe led the way with 25 points and going an even more impressive 9-12 from the field. He also had 6 assists and 4 rebounds. P.J Tucker and Channing Frye bounced back from poor performances last night to have good games tonight. Frye scored 18 points and Tucker scored 16, and both went 6-14 from the field.
The three ball is what carried the Suns as the made 15 on 30 attempts. Frye and Gerald Green, who had 22 points off the bench, each chipped in 4 threes. The Morris twins were fairly quiet tonight, Markieff had 9 points, and Marcus had 8.
For the Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki led them in scoring with 22 points on 7-17 shooting. SG Monte Ellis and PF Brandan Wright each had 19 points, and for Wright that ties his season high and he also shot 8-10.
As the final score would indicate, their wasn’t much defense in this game. The Suns just out shot the Mavericks, shooting 51%, while the Mavs shot a respectable 48%.
The Suns will look to continue to improve their surprising hot start against the Lakers at home Monday night. The Lakers are an average 13-14 and will of course play without the injured Kobe Bryant. This will be the Suns and Lakers 2nd matchup this season, the first was earlier this month in LA in which the Suns came out on top 114-108.
