I'm not afraid to admit I didn't really understand everything. For example, why did the entire crew of the first mission kill themselves? Why was the shrink infatuated with dying in the sun? When the rotated the shields to give the capt. and C. Murphy shade, what was protecting the ship?

I didn't really care for this movie much. I didn't hate it, I just didn't like it.

One of the things that I thought was strange is actually based on real science, appearently. I was listening to NPR's "Science Friday" this afternoon and they had someone on talkning about the mission to Mercury. I guess they have a sun shield (a big umbrella keeping the craft in the shade) on that mission...but it begs the question: why not build the ship out of the material that the shield is made from?

And, the other point I thought was weird, is the computer in the movie told them they were 13 hours away from the point they needed to be to release the payload...and then the **** hit the fan. It wasn't 13 hours of ****, yet they released the payload and were successfull anyway.

Recently watched it. Decent movie, but it just didn't click with me. I never developed a caring for any of the characters. I thought it really deteriorated during the last 1/3, when it pretty much turned into a horror flick. I was however impressed with Chris Evans, I hadn't seen him in this type of role before.
