Surprise player of the season

That was the knack on DRC last season that his competition in college was not very good and he would have a learning curve. It took him almost half the season to figure it out, but he came out of the wood work to supplant Green and eventually Hood for the #1 CB spot.

I see the same out of Toler, except I don't think there will be any supplanting. I see teams like the Seahawks going 3 wide against us and Toler playing the nickel CB. I have a hunch his talents will be underestimated and QBs will take ill-advised throws his way.

Toler has all of the skill set and physicality of any CB on this team.

I've never seen Toller play so I don't know that he has the skill set or physicality. He has the athletic measurables you'd like out of a CB but honestly I can bet nobody here has ever even heard of St Pauls College until draft day...let alone seen them play.

DRC didn't play against top notch competition but St Pauls is really about the lowest level of college ball, probably the equivelant of Jr College

i like the watson and doucet picks. i think expecting ANYTHING outta toler, who has been playing high school-like competition, would be an epic surprise.

i am going to pick calais as my breakout player. i think he corrals 8 sacks and knocks down a ton of passes this year, while simultaneously anchoring the corner against the run.

If this happens I would be thrilled. I am not sure he is stout enough to hold up as a 3-4 DE. Hope I am wrong.

let me put it another way . . . i played against a division II team. i couldn't have played against tennessee state.

I am getting this vibe from all of the interest he received in the offseason from other teams. He wouldn't have 20+ teams at Richmond's pro day scouting him for nothing.

My opening comment was someone literally coming out of no where, and I think since Hood was cut, someone is going to have to step into that #3 CB slot.

I also believe Rashad Johnson will become a major tackling threat on the defense this year and it will be very hard for the coaches to keep him off the field.Rolle better bring his A+ game this year or he will be getting just some third down plays.

Johnson is gonna bring leadership also.We finally have a defensive back who will teach the others how to open field tackle with technique and not with concussions.

yeah, got it. hope you're right. he's certainly got speed and if he can translate that speed to the field we'll have the fastest corners we've ever had, and likely the fastest tandem in the league.

On Defense - CC grabbing 6 sacks will be great, and another 2 from Iwebema Gotta throw some love for Iwebema! I am also on the Alan Branch bandwagon, the light is going to come on and he will be a staple on D!

On O - It's Early Doucet time, he's going to show everyone what he's got, his PT will be dictated by the health of Quan and Breaston, but when he see's the field I'm expecting a ton out of Early, his acceleration is remarkable. Give me 4 TDs for Doucet and I'm thrilled.

I think you're right about Herman. He seems like a good player, which many thought a year ago would be a sure fire first rounder. But because of his size, I don't think he can make that shift to tackle very easily.

I'd like to see Gandy re-signed, but if that can't or won't happen, then I want Levi worked over there and a battle between Keith and E. Brown on RT.

A classic example of how money can impact a football team. Leonard Davis could have been a starting Guard for Arizona for 15 years. But he was moved to LT because he made too much money.

There's a better chance of God lining up at LT than Johnson.

BTW, Gandy was the best player on our line last year. Why does everyone want to replace him?

I am going to go with Rolle. I think many people thought Antrell played well last year so he wouldn't be a surprise. But I think he is going to be Pro Bowler this year and lead the league in picks and return TD's.

I just like his physical skills, think he will be out in coverage more with AW closer to the line, and like the statements he made about how he was spending his offseason.

I think he is going to be one of our best players this year.

Ralph Brown. He played great in the playoffs and I think he is going to have a very good season as our Nickle guy.

That and the coaches must have faith in him if they expected him to fill Rod Hoods spot. I know we drafted some corners but do you really think the coaches thought they could rely on a later round rookie?

Surprise player of the year: Brandon Keith....he wins the RG spot in camp and having a consistent guard next to Levi turn the right side of the line into a power driving force that open some monster holes for Beanie and Timmy
