He is a much, much better offensive player than most of the players named in this post. I've seen him play several times. Very good footwork, runs the floor very well, good shooting touch with good range. He did perform very well at the two pre-draft camps. I follow Big 12 basketball and many of the coaches in the conference felt he was the most underrated player in the Big 12. I saw several quotes that had coaches saying that they thought he would be the best pro prospect from the conference. He is an aggressive player who is very active around the hoop. He is always getting tips and keeping balls alive. He also has a couple of nice post moves. He has a little jump hook that is very difficult to defend. He is definetly quicker and more active than most people here are portraying.

He didn't get a lot of looks out of highschool because his family moved around and he had to attend a different school almost every year. He went the juco route because he was such an unknown. When he came to Iowa State he had the typical adjustment his first year but he really came on this past year. Although he had a good career at ISU he still is a player that has a lot of development in him. I think everyone will be suprised by him. He is after all 6'10" and can move and run the floor.

thanks. It's nice to get some information from somebody who has actually watched him play.

oh man, you've got to lighten up. he didn't say anything derogatory based on race. just mentioning an individual's race is NOT racism. would it have been less offensive if he said a goofy caucasian? besides, the nba is undeniably a black-dominated sport. the numbers bear that out. i will risk being labelled a racist (despite the fact that my best friend and god-daughter are black) and say, my god, we got another white dude. if we really go out and sign nash and okur that brings out grand total to a possible of 8 outta 12. that's 75%! when was the last time an nba squad even had 50%???

I actually caught the game against Texas Tech. He was the best player on the floor that game. Pretty much around the ball, filling the lanes, and causing havoc.

However, I haven't really thought about him too much after that.

Definitely a good comparison to Jake Voskuhl.

I watched game but I probably couldn't give a better description - good athlete, excellent rebounder, good passer (plays well from high-post), was a factor in steal department for a bigman, had some sweet post moves, appears to be more of a PF than C right now, tough defender (not a stopper), on rebounds (will grab rebound dribble and get ball out quick), [gotta go - phone]....

He's a "Dirt Worker" as Cotton would say.

He can run the floor and provide some frontcourt depth it sounds like.

Woah - is phoenix a racist ball club? I wonder if a player who didn't get drafted or picked up in free agency could sue...they're pretty damning figures :p

For those that care, I've seen him play 3 or 4 times. He is much more athletic than many are giving credit for. His offensive skills are good and should get better. This isn't some daisy, the dude is tough and seems to like contact, probably a little too much since he does get into some foul trouble. I would be shocked if he didn't make the roster, as a motivating practice player if nothing else, but he realisticly could contribute minutes next season.

I really hoped they'd take PJ, but considering D's desire to push the ball, he may not have had the wheels to keep up. This kid can and he gives us a solid player to back up Amare. Jake has been filling that role to some degree, but his offense and the fact that he spends so much of the time at the center spot makes Jax a better candidate.

I think the topic title and content could be considered racist. Anyway, I believe it was in poor taste.

The reason they didn't take Ramos is because he is 18. The NBA draft is all about youth, its intoxicating. The problem is that when you constantly take young players, you can't properly develop the young players that you have.

Young players need an environment with wise vets to help them develop. This is why the Clippers can never get better. They never create a proper veteran environment to develop the promising young talent.

Ramos might be a real prospect, but he would be a drag on the development of Amare and Barbs in particular.

We are going to see the Suns sign quality vets this summer, that might not be around for 5 years or more, but will be the type that will create an environment that will nurture Amare, Barbosa, and JJ.

Vroman certainly looks like a taller version of Harvey. The Suns need a dirty work type player to come in off the bench to play some defense and grab some rebounds. They've had guys like Outlaw and Harvey who do "OK", but aren't tall enough to play interior defense against most PFs. From all accounts, he is exactly what they were looking for at that place in the draft.

Which is why they took the guy with a dui and a majiunana rap. :D

Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that the Suns started five blacks the last month of the season. It certainly didn't look like it bothered anyone.

Well duh...five black starters doesn't phase anyone because the vast majority of the NBA is black. It's so dominated by blacks now we are treading reverse racism waters with white players being referred to as "goofy" and looked down upon. So the real question isn't whether five black starters would cause an uproar but if it were five whiters starters instead. Its gone so far that if a team had five white starters some would throw a racist tag on the organization in an instant.
