"They could have got anyone for Tracy McGrady," Fried said. "That impressed Steve about how highly the Magic thought of him."

I didn't see them get Garnette, Lebron, Amare, etc! Let's be real, Stevie Franchise ain't all that! If he fell for that line... :D

The price was getting too high for Tmac. Marion and JJ are worth more than Tmac. If/when JJ gets even better we'd regret it big time.

Houston isnt going to be a whole lot better with Tmac...they might be worse!

I got hooted down on this, but I think Cato is a big part of this deal. There are so few quality centers in the East that he will probably be in the top half at least. He can play defense, which would be a huge change for the Magic.

On the Rockets side, a lot will depend Juwan Howard. He is not an exceptional defender and may struggle playing for Van Gundy who wants everyone to play D. I would not be shocked if they end up trying to move Juwan.

I am glad Huston got him... I for one was NOT interested in TMac for some reason.

I like what Marion contributes am not convinced that they need a 25 shot a night player to be a contender. T-Mac is worth more than Marion, but not enough more to warrent all the hype.

Besides, after Marion learns to play defense from Larry Brown...

Well, you guys have known where I stand on Tracy McGrady for some time. Or at least you know where I have good for the last three or four weeks regarding him. :)

If I'm Orlando I think I am actively looking to trade Mobley. If they can turn him into something decent I think they'll do much better this season.

George, I said the same thing about Cato last week. I seriously think Houston is underestimating the affect he had on their defense. Howard might provide more offense, but defensively he isn't very good. We'll see what else Houston does this summer.

I don't know what plans Orlando has in the FA market, but Hidayet Turkoglu would make a lot of sense. While is likely that San Antonio would match, it be worth a try for them to get a tall defender who is a good three point shooter. He would be a much better match than Mobley as a backcourt mate of Francis while being able to slide over the #3 slot.

Besides, it would hurt the Spurs.

I've been a big Cato fan for years. He does lots of things that don't show up in the box score that helps on defense. Besides, I saw him win the dunk contest at the Nike camp in Phoenix. He can jump out of the gym for his height. I always wondered why he didn't try the NBA dunk contest. For a running team, he would be ideal with his speed and finishing ability. He's kinda lost with the Rockets wanting to play half court with Yao. I think Cato would be great for us if we are still trying to uptempo the offense.

Cato is overpaid and has never been much of an offensive threat. That being said, he is an important pickup for Orlando that had to start DeClercq at center last year.

The problem is that he would also take up 8 mill. I think we could do better for 8 mill.

I think Cato is worth a little more than Juwan Howard, but on the Rockets it's a wash: Cato is underrated defensively, but the Rockets had absolutely nobody at PF this year. If Yao can play more than 30 mpg next season, they'll miss Cato even less.

The Rockets still need a F/C and a PG, but they weren't willing to break the bank last year, so it remains to be seen whether they're willing to use part or all of the MLE to do that.

Did anyone else see the little picture of Tracy McGrady on ESPN.com? It's in their NBA section over to the right hand side.

It may be time for him to put down the glass pipe.

I'm glad the Suns didn't get McGrady. We don't know what happened, but it sounds like the Suns had a maximum amount they were prepared to offer, the Magic tried to hard-ball them, and the Suns held firm. Good for them. In my opinion, not getting him (given the apparent circumstances) was one of their better moves of the last two years.

I would have been curious to see how McGrady did for the Suns, especially for the right price. That said, however, I've never liked him as a player. When he signed his maximum contract however many years ago, I predicted that he wouldn't be worth it. That was wrong, but I still have doubts about his leadership and longevity.

Good riddance.

In the future, Orlando going to have a lot of trouble dealing with anybody. That owner is a complete idiot for letting it get to this.
