Anyone know if tailgating on the Great Lawn is allowed after the game starts and for the duration of the game? I haven't been able to find a definite answer, and on the Az Cardinals website, it sounds like it is not allowed. But I see people firing up their grills and getting set up while the rest of us are heading into the game. Thx

No it is not. You would have to go to the Westgate.

In the parking lot, I don't think it's aloud, but for the park you just need a parking pass and some go just for that. I stroll through the lawn when I get there - about 20min prior to kickoff and there's no way in hell some people are getting packed up in time to get in for kickoff. But, I honestly don't know. Maybe call the ticket office?

This just has basic tailgating rules http://www.universityofphoenixstadium.com/guest/game_day

We have had people without tickets stay at our tailgate on the Great Lawn and watch the game on our TV. They were still there when we came back after the game. Maybe because both of the ladies were cute blondes?

We've had people stay and watch the game from our tailgate in lot f quite a few times. It seems as long as you have a place to be out there they'll let you stay. Our friends always can play the "we're watching the TV and generator" card, not sure if that's happened

Doesn't seem like they enforce the rule, but stay at your own risk.

On the great lawn may be different. It is a definite no no in the parking lots

They absolutely enforce the rule. I have been personally told to leave after I gave a ticket away and had to watch the game at the Westgate.

They used to be somewhat lax on it, but they are being ridiculous this year. We got jumped on for heating up hot dogs while we were tearing down our site after one of the games this year, despite still having plenty of time before the lot closed.

They have always harped on this. They don't want any cooking post game.

THIS. We used to park in the Brown Lot and walk to the stadium. By the time we would get out to the Brown Lot there was a helicopter buzzing the lot telling tailgaters to pack up and leave.

Here's an old post I made about it:

Our favorite after-the-game stories are from the year or two we would park out at the Brown lot and walk to the games (rather than cram onto a school bus). There is a strict rule around the stadium and all of the parking lots - Tailgating after the game has begun or post-game is not permitted. Understandable after the game because you don't want people getting their drink on just before they hop into their vehicles and not everyone is responsible enough to tailgate with a designated driver. Anyway, by the time we would make it to the Brown lot (a high school parking lot) there would always be a helicopter flying pretty low and shining a light on any group of people milling around and announcing loudly "There is no tailgating allowed. Go home!!" Then there would be foot or bike patrols doing the same thing. Felt like the Gestapo was out in force.

That's what they claimed but honestly I have done this every year at least once for the past 4-5 years. Hell one year we cooked up two racks of ribs after a game!

Thanks for all the replies! Sounds like it's kinda hit or miss but mostly frowned upon by security. I was hoping to go to the last reg season game to just hang out on the Great Lawn and watch the game there. Might try it anyways, I can usually get an orange parking pass free or for 20-30$.

I'd say go for it and wait for them to tell you to tear down, and then take your sweet arse time tearing down. Maybe by half time you can head over to westgate and catch the second half.

LOL

Bring some crutches or have an arm in a sling or something so it looks like it will take you forever to tear it down. Once they walk on - keep on keeping on. :D
