This guy might be the best defensive player in the draft. I realize he would be better suited for a 4-3, however why could we not use him as a OLB or tweener.
He is just to good to pass up here ... If his knee was better, he might have been the #1 overall pick. Led the NCAA in sacks last year and was a beast. If he busts then at least you took the best available person.

During the draft this always happens. The best players with great college stats always slide. Look at Dumerville and Suggs ...

Take the chance Cards ...

He'll probably gone by the time when we pick.

He's not a tweener. He's a pure 4-3 with a bad knee which is causing him to fall.

Good player, bad fit

And everyone in the league knows he is not a fit for the Cards so he wouldn't represent real value either.
Suggs dropped a few spots, Bowers is dropping an entire round at least..

I just don't see why he would not fit very well. I realize the knee issue, however he was the best pass rusher last year. For a defense that is low on applying pressure to the QB ... Why would he not fit ?

Also Campbell had a weak season last year. Couldn't he fit in at a 3-4 DE ?

We had no LB's applying pressure. Why could he not fit in a OLB spot ?

Why would someone who is fast and agile weighing 280 Lb's + 15.5 sacks last year not fit ? He could be the next Demarcus Ware if you watch the film.

Lets have a conversation about his knee.

I heard from someone who is close to a lot of sources that he heard loud whispers that Bowers will sit and wait to be drafted for a LOT longer still.

He will probably drop all the way into the third or even fourth round.

No way. All it takes is one team.

Im all for him. If the Cards took him then they would argueably have the two best defensive "talents" in the draft..

He will not fall out of the second. Even with knee concerns ... To much talent and pure football skills here

Talent means nothing when you have no position in a 3-4 and a bad knee.

Like I said I heard from a good reliable source that Bowers is likely drop a lot more. More than Sergio Kindle did last year.

I would take Bowers in the second round. Even if he just played five good years thats better than most and better than any other pass rusher on our roster right now. I think someone takes a chance on him before our pick in the second though.

I agree, Gary, if the prognosis on the knee is favorable. Bowers can rotate in at 34DE and he can be an edge DE in the 4 man rush. The Cardinals would not mind that scenario, which is why they have been looking long and hard at Cameron Jordan and other 34DE 45DE types.

If the medical prognosis was "favourable", he'd be off the board at this point. The NFL Network reports that several teams have taken him off their board, period... because the knee problem is degenerative. And while 2nd round $$$ is a comparative bargain, it's still real coin of the Bidwill realm. There are healthy 3-4 outside LBs still on the board that can be selected without caveat.

And after being burned twice by guys who had micro fracture (Swann & Wadsworth) can you blame the team for being cautious with similar injuries?

Bone on bone does not make for much of a career. Microfracture sugery is done to try and get cartiledge to regrow. I'm pretty sure it has minimal success at this point. So I agree with you and so does the entire league at this point.

Just watched an NFL network close up on the kid. Really good kid. Lead guitarist in a gospel band and seems to have his mind right. I say we take him and use him as a pass rusher and nothing else!

I want Bowers so bad. For a team that has little pass rush we should be able to find a spot for him somewhere.

He had microfracture surgery and they feel the knee is degenerative. Meaning it will never get better. He wont play for very long, if at all, in the NFL....sad

Where did you hear micro fracture? I read it was minor arthroscopic awhile back. Also read that there were rumors that he may need micrfracture but they were only rumors?

Bowers hasn't had microfracture, but teams are backing off because many think there is a strong possibility that he will need it in the future.

I didn't hear he had microfracture yet I heard that many teams think that is a distinct possibility--or near certainty and have removed him from their boards completely (it was on NFL Radio earlier today).
