Now that Notre Dame has taken care of Stephen F. Austin, it will be facing teams from power conferences for the rest of the NCAA Tournament. That first team will be Michigan in the second round.
Theoretically, a team like the Wolverines should be able to compete with the Irish in ways lesser teams can't. Look below though, and that theory appears to be blown out of the water. There is just such a significant difference between the respective leaders in most categories.
But that doesn't mean the Irish can take the Wolverines for granted, especially after their last stretch before the tournament wasn't the best. That stretch cost them in terms of seeding, and it will cost them a national championship if they don't take this or any game from here on out as seriously as they need to.
Here are the major statistical leaders for both teams and how they stack up:
Hannah Hidalgo leads Notre Dame with 24.2 points a game.
Olivia Olson leads Michigan with 16.2 points a game.
Liatu King leads Notre Dame with 10.2 rebounds a game.
Syla Swords leads Michigan with 6.2 rebounds a game.
Olivia Miles leads Notre Dame with 5.9 assists a game.
Mila Holloway leads Michigan with 4.3 assists a game.
King leads Notre Dame with a .542 field-goal percentage.
Olson leads Michigan with a .469 field-goal percentage.
Hidalgo leads Notre Dame with a .861 free-throw percentage.
Olson leads Michigan with a .832 free-throw percentage.
Hidalgo leads Notre Dame with 3.8 steals a game.
Brooke Quarles-Daniels leads Michigan with 1.6 steals a game.
Kate Koval leads Notre Dame with 1.7 blocks a game.
Olson and Yulia Grabovskaia lead Michigan with 0.5 blocks a game.
