Would love Mariotta as QB2 here, but I think he'll want a legit chance to start. We'll see, but he'd be an excellent fit in our system.

As for Tannehill, good for him for getting a second chance and out of the Miami dumpster fire.

From what I understand they can cut him after one year if it goes badly but if he’s good then year 2 and 3 are guaranteed.

Per Spotrac: Ryan Tannehill signed a 4 year, $118,000,000 contract with the Tennessee Titans, including a $20,000,000 signing bonus, $91,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $29,500,000. In 2020, Tannehill will earn a base salary of $17,500,000 and a signing bonus of $20,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $22,500,000 and a dead cap value of $62,000,000.

Correct I admit I read the tweet wrong. He’s not including the bonus Tannehill gets in the first year.

His cap hit in year one is 36m not 17.5m. If he’s cut after year one the 2nd year is guaranteed (dead money hits TEN) but the third year isn’t guaranteed. Basically he’d have to be terrible or hurt for them to cut bait.

The term “guaranteed” in contracts is one of my pet peeves because it’s always been misused. Only the signing bonus is guaranteed.

No there are guaranteed years as well in NFL contracts.

He is guaranteed signing bonus and first two years. That's a great contract for Tannehill.

Heh if he got hurt game 17 in his second year and wasnt healthy by week 1, he gets that third year too.

Glad to see Tannehill flourishing without loser Gase in his way anymore.

I've always liked Tannehill and thought more of his issues were Dolphins related than him actually sucking.

I do however think that the Titans just over guaranteed his contract and they may live to regret it if Tannehill doesnt maintain what he did last year.
