Lee has always been a hustle and dirt player - an effective one. I'm not looking for a centerpiece to build around because I think Shaq is the one that should be holding it down while he's here. I would take Lee's effort and effectiveness over Amare's loafing and lack of effectiveness every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Two years ago, Lee averaged a double-double in less than 30mpg (last year he was 11/9 in 29mpg). Don't tell me he's overinflated because he was doing that when the Knicks were the worst of the worst. Now, he's at 16/12 in like 36mpg. He does that here, too.
The difference is that we get a guy who can be effective - highly effective - without plays being run for him. This allows our offense to flow through Shaq and JRich via Nash. Aside from that, we get a few extra possessions per game as a team because of the types of hustle plays he makes and the disruptions he causes....
