What took them so long?

Suns rookie forward Taylor Griffin will spend a week with the team's NBA Development League affiliate.

Griffin was assigned to the Iowa Energy on Monday after making his second appearance of the season in Sunday's loss at the Los Angleles Lakers.

Griffin, picked 58th overall in June, will practice with Iowa for three days and play a home-away series with Dakota on Friday and Saturday before returning to the Suns.

"It's just routine," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said. "We want to get him a chance to play some games."

Kerr said he does not like long-term assignments to the D-League because of the separation from the Suns.

"He's valuable to us in practices," Kerr said. "He's a good practice player because he can play inside or outside."

Griffin, who is 6 feet 7, is making a transition from college power forward to pro small forward. Kerr said he has made progress with understanding when and where to shoot.

We needed him on the active roster to keep the minimum requirement since we never had the whole team healthy. Now LB is in the inactive list, and looks like Lou is back next game.

What is it with Sun's player putting up big numbers in NBDL but sucks in NBA. Why are they recalling him anyway, why dont they just leave him there to develop his game....if that is possible..

PHOENIX (AP)—The Phoenix Suns have recalled rookie forward Taylor Griffin(notes) from the Iowa Energy of the NBA development league.
The club assigned the 6-foot-7 Griffin to Iowa on Dec. 7. He played in two games with the Energy, averaging 13.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Griffin, who has appeared in two games for Phoenix, was the Suns’ second-round pick—48th overall—out of Oklahoma. He is the brother of the draft’s No. 1 overall pick, Blake Griffin(notes), who was chosen by the Los Angeles Clippers.

I would have left him. Those #'s are not very impressive considering the level of competition in the D league. He is not going to get playing time from our bench. Leave him there.

Really does it matter where Griffin is placed? Minimally he needs to stay in the NBADL. IMO, he is not NBA material. I still can't figure out why the Suns drafted him.

Why didnt we sign Carlos Powell instead of drafting Griffin? Carlos Powell showed way more than Taylor Griffin in the Summer League. Powell's stats are way better too. 22 ppg, 6rpg, 5rpg and 1.4 spg.
