Then how do you explain that the lineup including Carter was by far the best unit the Suns put on the floor last season?

Nash-Carter-Hill-Frye-Gortat had a rating of +15. The same lineup with Dudley instead of Carter was +5.

Carter was not nearly as bad as some Suns fans want to blame him for. At least he could get a shot off without Nash setting him up or being left wide open.
Who on this current Suns team can create for himself or other players now? Nash and Hill a little bit and that is it.

I said somewhere else that Carter could play limited minutes for Dallas but he has a small gas tank and when he runs out of gas... he runs out of gas. The trouble is, the Suns frequently played him until his tank ran dry in the first half of games last season. I'd take Dudley and Brown over today's Carter. IMO, Carter is now primarily a specialist who can win some games for Dallas if his legs are not dead. Sort of like a closing pitcher in baseball.

I'll bet Brown surprises some people this year.

Anything is better than the ghost of Vince Carter.

Hollinger just lost what little credibility he had IMO. The suggestion that all our offseason changes are downgrades is absurd.
He picked as to finish next to last in the West. I could see that if the Suns traded away Nash, but as long as he is healthy I just don't see the Suns losing that many games. Hopefully the Suns use this prediction as motivation.

In regard to Hollinger's comments, Brooks was no loss for the way he played for the Suns last season... still I had hope, at least for a sign and trade. I can see Ronnie Price beating out Telfair for the backup PG position. Anyway, I do not see the backup PG position being any worse and perhaps improved. Losing Carter was addition by subtraction. The Suns front line, particularly the center position needs to be the Suns strength. If Morris can contribute, this would be huge. Did he forget the Suns have both Dudley and Brown at SG?

I was thinking all the same things.

Yeah, barring a Nash injury or a Nash trade, he'll miss the mark on that projection.

I did read that but I'm not sure how I feel about it. My biggest problem with Hakim is what he does to our team defense and I'm not sure that improves all that much if he's playing the 3. It's worth a try, I guess.

Steve

His defense is my concern as well. However, maybe his height can give some opposing SF problems. He cannot handle strong PFs defensively. I can see Warrick giving the Suns a larger front line at SF say with Gortat and Morris. I give Gentry credit for exploring all options.

I think I read somewhere that Warrick was statistically our worst defensive player last year. I can't imagine he would hurt our defense any more at SF than at PF. At SF at least you still have Gortat and Frye/Morris to protect the basket while Warrick is out there.

22-44 was my prediction

After watching tonight's first preseason game with Denver, I think you are being much too generous with the win total for the Suns.

I guess all I can think of right now is the word "marshmallow" after watching the game.

They look like they will do well chemistry wise. I went to the open practice last night, and in regards to Morris, he looks to have what we need as a back-up big. He does lack in our defensive scheme so far though. Almost like he was lost at times. Doesn't rotate to the spot on the floor where he should go. Definitely needs to put on some muscle weight to bang more inside as well. Overall, the team looked good. After watching the webcast of the scrimmage Wednesday night, I had a lot of concerns with Telfair, but he looked a LOT better last night. Big air of confidence in this team this year. I'm thinking 4-6 seed IMO
I have been hearing this also, we do have a lot of hustlers, and a big. Short season means we can't spend the time correcting the line up the way we did last year. Coach better bring it.

Watching them in pre-season anything more than 16 wins seems like overachieving. Those guys look bad and I can't see any sign of good attitude or chemistry. I see lots of players hanging their heads.
