Totally agree. Good write up.

PP was awesome today he gave up 1 catch that came on an absolutely perfect throw by Brees.

Just watched the David Johnson 55 yard pass td. After DJ came to the sidelines, he was talking to Matthieu and got done with him and Peterson came over and he said, I could read his lips, "Welcome to the NFL!" then give a big ole smile. I got a laugh at that.

Also, Powers was a beast tonight. He did so well in coverage. Amazing game for him also.

I thought that Larry should have been targeted much more. And he was wide open for what I thought would have been a TD, and CP missed him. Now if Michael Floyd was at his best, then I could better understand Larry's # of targets.

Okafor might break 10 sacks this year if he keeps it up. They didn't get a lot of pressure on Brees but the coverage was so great that he had nowhere to throw and the line collapsed on him. They are missing Graham for sure. Brees looks lost without him.

He may not be comfortable, but lost is a bit of a stretch, don't you think? 62.5% completion rate, 355 yards passing 1TD and an INT that was fluky at best. Brees will be just fine. He's got some young guys, especially out of the backfield who can catch and run. Payton made Bettcher look a little silly at times with the screen game. Really helped keep the pressure off Brees.

Im glad out O was able to get back untracked after a fairly horrible middle section there.

Mitch, have to agree with you big time, about the play of Earl Watford. Now this is his third year, and that gives me hope for DJ Humphries. I know he's a first round pick so that more is expected, but I also know that OL is a tough job to learn, and patience is required. Also, have a "down the road" question. When Massie comes back and if Iupati is still out, do we move Earl to LG and bench Larson, though it seems that Larson played well, yesterday?

Okafor definitely needs to be honorable mention.

Good teams find a way to win when they don't play their best. We did exactly that. It bodes well to think what we are capable of when we do play our best.

One other thing:

Dear Carson,
Please go down sooner. You nearly gave all off us a heart attack!

I was at a Sports Bar and was pretty much saying pretty loud Palmer what the hell are you doing?

I will mention 2 things and apologize if these were already mentioned.

1) We ran the ball. After Ellington went down Chris Johnson came in and IMOP was impressive given that he had hardly no touches in the Preseason. Had a couple of nice first down runs to eat up some clock.

2) Dline needs to step up. Brees had way too much time to throw.

Pleased with the win.

Minter really impressed me yesterday.

Was "meh" in coverage as expected, but was great in the run game which I didn't expect.

Why would we move Earl to LG if Iupati is coming back?

Arians has already indicated that Earl is in the starting lineup at RT for the foreseeable future, even when Massie is reinstated.

I think he had 7 tackles with 5 solo. Not bad considering Campbell with 6, Bucannon, Powers and Tyrann had 8

The play of Watford was huge yesterday. Earl will stay where he is and this offensive line will be real good when Iupati comes back.

TJ my question about moving Watford inferred that Iupati might be out longer than expected. If that were the case, wouldn't we want to have our best five OL-men playing? Of course if Iupati will be back by the third or fourth game, we stay with our current OL. And I guess it's possible that you think that Larson is a better OG than Massie is an OT.

For all the good and praise HB earned yesterday, lets not forget it was his swing and big miss that allowed the Saints first TD. He still needs to learn to keep himself in control, sometimes...can't always be a wild man out there.

All the LSU guys shined and played very similar to what they did in college :)

My wife cracked me up with the comment that LSU is the Cards farm club.... watched their game against Miss State on Saturday. Goes without saying that Fournette would look good in Cardinal red but how about Beckwith at LB??

Larry is going to be a Steve Largent possession type of receiver this year. Actually, its a nice balance with the the young burners we have.

I remember that play and agree he misplayed it. But he was all over the field other than that. The play before he went helmet to helmet and absolutely blew up a Saints player 50 lbs heavier. That and the huge Gresham block were my two favorite plays of the game.

Cards probably have the best safeties in the game (especially with Kam holding out for Seattle) with HB, Jefferson, and Buchanan. Very hard-hitting, good tackling and fun to watch.

Agree. If the O-line can keep up what they did Sunday to keep CP upright, this will be the best receiving corps in the NFL. Sleepers
