Here are other 1st round wide receivers who were taken in the first round and were under 6'1" since 2002.

Donte Stallworth
Lee Evans
Santonio Holmes
Ted Ginn Jr. (the only drafted in the top 10)
Jeremy Maclin
Percy Harvin

You left a couple names off of your list.

Hakeem Nicks
Roddy White

If you go back another year, you can add Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss. All of the players you listed are also smaller speed receivers with return skills who weighed under 200 lbs at the time of their draft. Some of them well under. Blackmon is listed anywhere from 207-215. He's a different animal.

Additionally, 14 of the top 20 leaders in receptions last year are under 6"2". I think Blackmon could join them next year or the year after.

I don't believe any of them were taken top 10, in their 1st round year. (except Ted Ginn, Jr. who is a bust).

I know I prefer Floyd over Blackmon. When he gets to the pros, I believe you will see Blackmon struggle vs press coverage because of his size, and struggle with creating seperation. That is not to mean he won't be effective, I just can't see him being a star in the league.

I'll take the guy who runs the best routes: Blackmon!

Blackmon DOMINATED everyone he went up against. Your wrong, he will be a big time player for years, wait and see.......

Ok. In truth I guess we will see, but if I was you, I would question the wisdom of backing the small WR whose strength is his physicality. I'm just not sure how his game will transition against larger, quicker, and stronger pro CBs.

Blackmon isn't small or weak.

So he is small, and doesn't have the speed that most small WRs coming out of college have? Aren't you supposed to be helping your case?

Look, I think Blackmon will eventually develop into a solid starting WR in the NFL, but if I am going to draft one of two WRs, both whose strength is their physicality and neither of which have great speed, I will draft the guy who is 6'3 220 over the guy who is 6'1 207.

For those of you arguing over Floyd v Blackmon, its hopeless. They are different styles of players. they each have their upsides.

If I had to point out 1 tidbit that might tip scales itd be they had similar numbers all throughout College. but Blackmon did it with Wheedon and Floyd did it with a nobody.

Thats helpful considering we have a nobody QB

That's cool. I'll take the more consistent, more durable receiver who runs better routes and doesn't periodically come up short in big games.

They ended their college careers with similar numbers, but Blackmon was a part-time player until 2010. Floyd was a four year starter.

Blackmon was by far a tougher receiver, and no-one brings up the point he was constantly double and triple teamed and STILL put up huge numbers. A teammate (Markelle Martin) brought this up in an article. This guy is for real......

I would have Floyd over Blackmon easy if character is considered. I really like Michael Floyd, he has been a great player for us and exceeded expectations. That being said, on talent only I have him a solid third behind Alshon Jeffrey and Justin Blackmon. Thank god he knows how to keep himself straight, we sure made the right pick.

Cardinals finally catching the breaks! So glad we stayed away from Blackmon now, even though I would have loved to have Blackmon before all his off field problems....
