Tennessee redshirt senior defensive back Christian Charles announced he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

"Beyond grateful for my time as a Vol," he announced. "Knoxville has been great to me. I’m thankful for my time spent, but I think it’s time to do what’s best for me and my family! I’ll forever bleed orange, GBO."

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety appeared in 30 games for the Vols from 2021-24. He recorded three tackles for a loss, 71 tackles, one pass deflection, one fumble recovery, one block and 10 punt return yards.

In 2023, Charles played in the first two games before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury and missed 11 contests.

Charles played a season-high 29 snaps against Alabama and Kentucky in 2024. He totaled 28 tackles and two tackles for a loss in 10 games last season.

Charles is from Chestatee High School in Gainesville, Georgia.

The NCAA transfer spring window opened Wednesday and closes April 25.
