The Tennessee Titans are entering the home stretch with less than 24 hours until the commissioner puts them on the clock for the No. 1 pick. While all eyes will be on Cam Ward in that spot, it is what Tennessee does to build around him that will make a difference moving into the future.
As the clock ticks down, a new name has surfaced connected to the Titans as a potential pick over the weekend, and it is another one of Ward’s weapons at Miami. Justin Melo of The Draft Network reports that Tennessee held a pre-draft virtual meeting with Miami wideout Samuel Brown Jr.
Brown is an interesting under-the-radar prospect who could hit his stride in the NFL. A transfer from West Virginia to Miami, he has all of the athletic and size traits to be a successful outside receiver in the league. An explosive athlete, he fit in well with the Hurricanes, recording 36 receptions for 509 yards and two touchdowns with Ward at the helm.
Brown is still raw, flashing game-changing ability, especially on short-to-intermediate routes, where his skills after the catch are evident, but must work on his route tree and vertical game to become a complete NFL receiver. The traits are there for him to succeed, but he must find a system and staff that will help him refine those skills and turn them into on-field production.
Tennessee enters the draft with six Day 3 selections and Brown could be a name that pops up on their board. Between his chemistry with Ward and the Titans’ need at wide receiver, it would be a logical connection.
