I have been on the fence with this show for most of this year (although enjoying it more than Heroes or Fringe), but I have to say, Monday's episode was the best of the entire series thus far, IMO.

Agreed. I love how they tied together the story from each persons pont of view. Like for instance, you had no clue from Sarah's perspective what was going on from the trunk. What I thought happened and what really happened were a little different.

Next weeks episode looks interesting as well.

Ahh River...we hardly knew you. I'm happy to see Summer getting work again though, hopefully Fox doesn't screw her show over like last time.

Well, the finale before the holiday break was... interesting I guess. I'm hoping that the three dots story arc is over.

Seriously, I hope the dot experiment is over too.

I also wish Riley would take a hike. She has turned a promising John character back into a whiney baby (Wahhhhhh I want a normal life.....), yuck.

I know, the previews have looked good. I also heard something about them bringing a Kyle in, awesome.

OT, slightly it is being followed be Josh Whedon's new series Dollhouse that I wanted to check out too. Friday nights are getting crowded, TGF DVR.

Hopefully paring this with Doll house will help. I like this show. Not great but entertaining.

This was just an awful hour. BORING, BORING, BORING! The only good part was when Shirley Mansion just took out everyone. Everything else was just terrible.

What's worse was the canned conversing that Summer Glau and Eliza Dushku have during the commercials. Just terrible.

I thought marketing was contrived but it didn't bother me.

I have to agree though on the first episode back it was really blah. I liked that they had Kyle in there but the episode didn't get good until SM went on her rampage. Also, I am sick to death of this entire Ryley story line.

They should have started with an episode like next weeks. It looks good.

PS. When that guy was relieving himself in the bathroom...they teased. I thought it was going to be another piss poor morphing experience from SM out of the urinal again.:D

Kyle making a ghost appearance was cool, but for the life of me, I kept thinking "THAT'S NOT MICHAEL BIEHN!" The guy looks like a teenager, much too young for Sarah. So that was weird. Plus, Sarah is insane. At least she was willing to stick a gun in a defenseless woman's face this time. Better than doing the laundry.

Guy playing Kyle looked younger than John. Definately not the right fit.

I was with you that wasn't "Kyle". The funny thing is that Michael B. was just on an episode of Criminal Minds and his look now would have been perfect. He is definately older, I guess they didn't want him to look older than Derrick, since he is the baby brother and of course as a figment, it would be hard for Sara to remember an old Kyle.

My one thought on that is that she sees him as he looked when they met. It has been 16 years right? I think if the current actress looked 16 years younger I bet nobody questions it.

Also, Sara has always been insane. Even in the movies. In the extended cut of T2, they edited out another sequence with Michael Biehn that I wish they kept in.

That's right. IN THE MOVIES. The problem is, she hasn't been like that in the TV show. That's been my problem with the series from the get-go.

It's a tough balancing act though. They have showed Sarah several times losing it in the show but they always bring her back down to earth. In the movie it's a little easier because you don't have to show the sane side of her much in 3 hours. They have to in the show because its a series.

I have noticed though that Sara has been more tame as of late. I want to see her going back to kicking more butt instead of leaving it up to everyone else (like Reese) to get the job done.

Didn't think it was possible, but we got an even more boring episode than usual. This show is on its last legs, I will be amazed if it gets picked up for another season.

Yup - sadly, you may be right. They seem lost as to where the show is going. And since when did Cameron become a bit player? She's barely been on screen since the break. She was the best part of the show.

Ah well - unless they come up with a plot line that can sustain, they are in trouble. Kinda like Heroes. Two shows that started with a bang and have fizzled...

Is it me or does it seem like these were more like filler episodes? Not the way you want to start off a new set of episodes IMO.

Not just you. Those were some of the most 'filler' episodes I've ever seen. They could have covered the plot of the last 2 hours in about 15 minutes.

I think the show's problem is that it is trying to be a hybrid of a serial show (like Lost) and an episodic one (like other 'traditional tv' shows).

It seems to want to be serial, but there is not enough plot and mythology and backstory to fill the hours of airtime. Lately, it's tried to be more episodic, with side-plots and stories, but very few of those are interesting.

They need to do what X-Files did so well - have a serial arc for each season that covers maybe 1/3rd of the airtime, and have strong standalone story arcs that cover the other 2/3rds. That way, they keep the 'dedicated viewers' and rope in the 'casual viewers' as well.

Part of the problem may be the universe and the characters. With a 'formula' show, you usually have things for characters to do and to build story arcs from - cops, doctors, lawyers, etc. X-Files, for all it's alien mystery and fun, was a cop and murder mystery show at heart.

For Terminator, it almost has to be serial, with all plot related to the core storyline. I'm not sure what kinds of side stories are available to the characters and the universe, given that obsession over Skynet and the future drives everyone? Sarah Conner goes to the school bake sale? John gets a part-time job?

I would try to get them tangled up in side-stories that appear at first to be related to Skynet, but are really something else (people in trouble, bad guys vs good guys stuff). They have toyed with this, but need to go a lot further. Have some strong single and multiple episode stories that are fast, action packed and tense, but have nothing to do with Skynet. That would fit the actors and vibe of the show.

A so-so episode. Better than the last two, but still pretty 'eh'.

They need to move past the 'Sarah Conner is delusional - or is she?' storyline for awhile.

And what the heck happened to Cameron? She's the best part of the show - and has barely been onscreen since the break - with NOTHING to do of interest.

They're trying to fudge with the structure of each episode now to try to keep people interested. A lot of the time, it seems like a stretch, like the writers KNOW they aren't producing a good product.
