I saw this coming, Jones wants to be a point foward type of player, the Odom/Bejarano comittments meant he would have to share minutes with them on the wing which is something he is reluctant to do. KU is probably more focused on Barnes thus Jones hasn't heard fom them in a while. Kind of gives OU hope for the Smith/Jones package that was rumored or UCLA which has been on Smith for a long time.

Supposedly Smith dropped Oklahoma although the same source for that said Smith was verballing on Saturday to UCLA and that didn't happen. He's a UW guy he says Smith is down to UCLA and UW, but he passed on UW's Midnight Madness. The claim from this guy is Smith is going to UCLA but like Kevin Love he's holding off on making it official so he doesn't get hammered his entire senior year in highschool by locals mad he passed on the local school.

Hope he's right.

Why not just transfer to Mater Dei? :sarcasm:

Nobody from Mater Dei pans out at UCLA. I'm hoping Tyler Lamb breaks the mold but frankly I wish no UCLA recruits would play there, it's just bad luck.

I guess to be fair Ced Bozeman was a huge part of the team that lost to Florida in the title game but he was a huge disappointment(due to injuries) up to that season.

To be logical here, Terrance Jones wouldnt have to "share" minutes with anyone on Arizona's roster.

I seriously doubt that had anything to do with it.

Side note but it sounds like McCallum is now down to UCLA and UA.

Turns out McCallum's dad worked as an assistant in the early 90's on Wisconsin's team where Sean Miller was a graduate assistant and Whitford was a student manager so both have ties to the dad.

Nobody seems to have a clue who leads, pretty significant recruit for UCLA, apparently he's the only 2010 PG they're recruiting, if they don't get him, they will likely go into next year with just Jerime Anderson, because it's considered VERY likely that Malcolm Lee goes pro if he has anywhere near the soph year he's expected to have.

Can you then explain his mother's quote about how "Arizona got two recruits and decided to go in another direction". Terrence could have still committed but Miller likes to use his roster, Odom & Bejarano will get minutes plus Solomon Hill & Parrom, Jones just waited too long.

Yes, he wasn't going to visit this weekend and UA decided to move on with two recruits (Payne, McCallum) that both have UA on their final list and have or will be on campus this month.

Arizona saw the writing on the wall and decided to put all their attention on Payne and McCallum in order to close them.

A guy like Terrance Jones doesnt have to worry about minutes unless he just flat out doesnt try or has a poor work ethic. The kid would probably start on every team in the nation, regardless of how good the roster is.

I mean I really wanted Jones and its too bad we arent in the picture anymore, but the decision definitely wasnt about minutes or who else we signed. If Jones really wanted to come to UA he would have made a visit by now.

UA has much more to worry about than trying to convince a recruit to visit.

I read a tidbit on Payne's profile on Scout that rumors are going around that he is deciding between WV and UK but will take his last visit to KU before deciding but some posters on the message board say those rumors are false and that Payne has not mentioned anything lately about eliminating schools.

McCallum, people are speculating that if he makes it to the UA visit uncommitted he is UA's, I don't buy that for one minute, these kids are smart, they are taking all their visits and really thinking about what program is best for them, unlike some young kids who jump at the first offer they see and decommit because they realized they rushed their decision. If we come away with these two, I wouldn't care where TJ goes, I'd be happy with our class without him.

Fair enough, I believe the parting was mutual. Miller is happy with his wing situation and realized Terrence probably wasn't coming so no harm no foul. Payne and McCallum are more crucial to this class than Jones.

Oh, im sure the parting was mutual as well. Miller saw the writing on the wall and obviously, dropping UA was not much of a concern to Jones and his family. Hate to see a talented west coast kid end up in another conference, but it wont be fun matching up with him if he winds up in the Pac-10.

I think with the way things are developing for 2011 and the fact that Miller and staff are hot after Angel Nunez (a better shooting, skinnier, somewhat less talented version of Jones) sure helps things out. Not to mention the staff did a great job filling out the forward position in the '09 class.

Payne and McCallum are very important recruits and losing either would hurt.
