The Texas men's basketball team received a shock to the heart Thursday in Nashville, Tenn., as they defeated Texas A&M in double-overtime 94-89 in the second round of the SEC tournament.
The much-needed victory seemingly took Texas' NCAA Tournament hopes off the wrong side of the bubble, with bracketologist Joe Lunardi improving the Horns' position as the last team in the Big Dance.
After sleepwalking through the end of the regular season, the Longhorns seem to have found something with all players healthy enough to take the court.
They'll need the same mojo that has taken them through two rounds of the SEC tournament when they face their next opponent — an old friend — Rick Barnes, and his Tennessee Volunteers at 2:30 p.m. Friday on ESPN.
The Vols were seen sitting courtside munching on some popcorn during the Longhorns' and Aggies' marathon game.
The matchup will be the fifth time the teams face each other in the past four years. The Vols currently hold a three-game winning streak over the Horns.
Texas beat the Vanderbilt Commodores, 79-72, on Wednesday in the first round of the SEC men's basketball tournament to set up a game versus a formerly familiar foe in the tournament's second round. A&M was awarded a bye past the first round after finishing fifth in the conference this season.

Texas struggled for most of the regular season, placing 13th in its inaugural year in the SEC (tying fellow newcomer and Red River Rival Oklahoma at 6-12 in conference play).

Texas (19-14) will play Tennessee (25-6) for chance to move to the semifinals of the tournament.
The game should tip off around 2:30-3 p.m. It'll begin 25 minutes after noon game ends.
