Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond was not selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, a surprising outcome for a player once projected as a mid-round pick. Bond’s draft stock plummeted in the weeks leading up to the draft after he turned himself in to Frisco, Texas, police on an outstanding warrant for sexual assault.

Bond was released after posting a $25,000 bond and has since filed a federal lawsuit against his accuser, alleging defamation and maintaining his innocence.

Bond, 21, released a statement after his arrest, saying, “Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false. I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation. Unfortunately, claims like these prove to be harmful to all involved, absent full review. I kindly request that all reserve judgement until the authorities provide a complete report based on truth and evidence”

Details from the police affidavit, obtained by multiple outlets, allege that Bond and the woman met after exchanging messages on social media. The accuser claims that after initially consensual contact, Bond engaged in acts she did not consent to, ignored her requests to stop, and later attempted to offer her money and asked her to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Bond’s attorneys have called the allegations false and say the encounter was consensual.

The legal proceedings and disturbing nature of the allegations cast a shadow over Bond’s draft prospects, with NFL teams reportedly wary of the unresolved case. Despite his on-field achievements-including 34 receptions for 532 yards and five touchdowns in his lone season at Texas, Bond, went undrafted and is now available as a free agent.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian praised Bond’s talent and speed, but the off-field issues left his professional future uncertain. “He’s got a really bright future,” Sarkisian said, “but pending his current legal issues off of the field, his future became less clear”.

Bond’s case remains under investigation, and his next steps-both legally and professionally-are yet to be determined.
