The Coyotes really screwed this up if they have any intention of staying in the Valley. They could have explored transitioning Doan to another role in the organization. They could have offered a final farewell year at a reduced contract. Doan might not have been interested in either, but the breakup in public suggests the team wasn't either.
I'm old enough that the Coyotes were not my childhood team, but I always supported them. I think that's done. No offense intended to fans who stick around maybe even to the bitter end - I've been there too, and respect it.
