Heman Johnson? Really? Who cares about a big fat mountain of "fat" who has done absolutely nothing...

I think the point is that if a playoff team thinks he's good enough to put on their active roster then maybe we're stupid for having him on our practice squad when our oline sucks douche. I thought he looked really good last year, but this year he was clearly way out of shape for preseason.

The Bears have had HUGE OL problems all season even though they are winning. Considering HJ hasn't played a snap I dont think anyone can reasonably make that judgment.

They Bears most likely were scanning practice squads at who they could sign and HJ measurable s jumped off the page at them.

Well we all know what measurables mean.

I'm not sure that's an indication of the ability of a player... teams signs players off practice squad all the time to add bodies due to injuries etc. Now it will be totally different story if he starts to perform at a high level. Maybe then we can start this thread but right now it is absolutely premature and overreaction to nothing.

I'm not wringing my hands over it. Actually, it's better than the days when our guys on the practice squad went nowhere but out of football entirely.

Me either. Just hate to see the Cards waste a 5th round pick when they've had good success at that spot since CKW was hired.

I think Antonio Smith graduated from the practice squad to start for the Cards but I can't remember anyone else. So no big deal.

Why is this a 3 page thread for someone who never really played for us and wasn't a good player?

Based on the staff's track record on judging talent Johnson is probably well on his way to a long Pro Bowl career.

If the Bears are going to play him at tackle we can pick him back up before the end of the season. If they are going to play him at guard they just found a ten year starter who could dominate in this league. Really, I can't believe Russ Grimm is so pig headed that he wont let a player play at his best position. Herman Johnson could have been our replacement for Faneca, but now we will have to draft someone high who will have to learn the playbook and start fresh. This coaching staff makes some really bad decisions sometimes when it comes to draft picks. HJ played left guard and they moved him to tackle where he clearly doesn't have the feet to play that position. Then they wonder why he failed.

Hadnot's only 28 so he's got several years left and should be an adequate replacement for Faneca.

Though the way the entire team is regressing he may not even be UFL material by next fall.

Yeah, Hadnot is the one former Cleveland Brown who should be on the field, but isn't.

Then who replaces Deuce Lutui? That's the problem; Johnson could've been next year's RG or LG, but now we're going to be left with a rookie thrust into the starting role or paying a free agent to start.

Well you are assuming that Lutui leaves via free agency. Which very well might happen but you never know.

He wasn't a 1st round pick, so there's a chance Graves keeps him around.

The Cards have more of their 1st Rd Draft picks left on the team than 2nd Rounders. On top of that Lutui is the most senior 2nd rounder left.

Well, to put it another way: We have 1 offensive guard signed through 2011 right now. Two if you count Jeremy Bridges.

Obviously, our panic/necessity FA signings have worked out pretty well so far. Paris Lenon. Bryant McFadden. Derek Anderson. Travis LaBoy. Joey Porter.

You forgot Al Johnson.

Lutui is a home boy. If they let him go it will be almost sacrilegious. They now have the money from the new stadium to be competitive right?

But you are right far too often for me to put a ton of stock in the Duece being back for next season. :(
