Well----our beloved Cards have taken yet another significant hit in the injury department. This really hurts, because this is not just some promising rookie that is out for the year, or needing to under go surgery so that he can hopefully return in 8 weeks or so. These are our two top free agent signees, Corey Peters, gone for the year, (our anchor nose tackle specifically brought in to initiate a new scheme at nose), and Mike Iupati, (the big signing that was to allow us to have that bad-ass pulling guard to open holes for our talented running backs). The only position that could have been more costly is at QB, as these two were carefully selected, wooed, and signed for the specific purpose of being able to build both the O and the D lines around them.

Sometimes, I think that if it were not for bad luck, the Cardinals would not have any luck at all. It almost seems like the Cards have to battle not only against normal odds, but against the almighty powers that be as well. So for now, it would appear that Rookie, Rodney Gunter will be called upon as next man up to replace Corey Peters, and Ted Larsen is once again entrenched at left guard. What a terrible and unfortunate set of circumstances that look to destroy our carefully rebuilt lines before we can even get into the regular season. Plain and simple, bad Cardinals luck again.

I want to know how bad is Watford that he can't continually beat out Larsen, who sucks. And for everyone who maintains "continuity" there, that didn't stop us from plunking Shipley in the C spot or Cooper at RG.

I think it's more about consistency than "continuity." I thought Watford looked pretty good at LG and RT last week.

even if that's the case, Larsen was consistently BAD last year and he still can't be beaten out by Watford? it's just a head-scratcher to me.

Jared Veldheer: 1059 snaps, 7 penalties, 1.5 sacks, 17.5 blown pass blocks, 5.5 blown run blocks
Ted Larsen: 1040 snaps, 11 penalties, 3.0 sacks, 20.5 blown pass blocks, 3.5 blown run blocks.

Per FootballOutsiders new annual. IMO, Larsen is a solid pass protector — he might be better than Iupati. Honestly, Iupati had 20 blown blocks on pass plays last year — second only to Larsen in 100 fewer snaps.

I'm fine with Ted Larsen, honestly. I hope that Earl Watford will make his move this season.
