Jeffy in Jersey Was Busy
Tony in Mesa sounds just like Jeff Gollin...I called in the camp reports to Jeff during training camp..figured I would give him a hard time...
Nope - I was busy transcribing my notes of the presser for the BRS. A lot of ground was covered in that interview.
The Biggies as I see them (which means take them with a grain of salt) -
1. Our O-line WILL live up to its potential (or else).
2. Actually, in terms of scheming, don't expect to see very much new - we'll still run Shipp between the tackles and go downtown off play action. We'll still operate out of a base 4-3 but also occasionally switch to a 3-4 and present a lot of unpredictable looks. What we can expect changed is that the execution on both sides of the ball will be much better.
3. What I do expect on offense is more explosion from our wide outs (probably by acquiring at least one explosive receiver).
4. And I expect free agent additions on defense (I'with 2 corners our top priority).
5. Reading between the lines, expect one veteran on the squad to be cut - to drive home Denny's point about "never fining people" (if you know what I mean).
6. Practices will be higher intensity and up-tempo.
7. The Emmitt situation will be up to Emmitt. (I think he'll be back - Denny will offer to use him partly in some sort of assistant coaching capacity and Emmitt will like that).
8. It's hard to assess how things were under the previous regime, but my guess is that player development under Dennis will more organized and more specifically tracked according to each player and his specific development objectives- with players and their position coaches held more accountable.
