That's why you NEVER care what your record is, as long as you make the playoffs.

I don't care if we win the division at 6-10 next year, just win it baby.

The rest of the league does poorly coming out West to play in the playoffs. NFC West now 15-7 in the NFC playoffs since 2000. Easily the best winning percentage in the playoffs of all four divisions.

In other words, I expect no one to ever say again that they would be too embarassed to see us win our division just because experts would make fun of us and we would get blown out in round 1.

The rest of the NFC can't handle traveling West for the playoffs!

Would love to hear all the loudmouth buffoons retract their statements about how the Seahawks had no chance and the league rules should be revised to prevent the travesty of teams like them from getting in

Since 2005, the NFC West is a combined 9-5 and has won at least one game each postseason. It's collective .643 win percentage is the best divisional postseason record in the NFL during that span. - ESPN

Cool! :iwin:

BTW, I did not include the Super Bowls when I tallied the records over the past decade. Just the NFC games.

It was just an ESPN stat they just said, so I figured I would point it out that its the best of all 8 divisions.

You do have to wonder if the game today is going to push them towards changing division winners with lesser records not getting home field advantage.

Seattle's win makes at least 4 teams without a winning record in the last 8 years that have won a first round playoff game.

Rams and Vikings in 2004 and San Diego in 2008 all at 8-8.

The NFC West always represents well in the playoffs. I am by no means a fan of the Seahawks, but there is bit of satisfaction knowing that the 7-9 team knocked the defending SB champs out of the playoffs.

That said, I don't think they beat Chicago or Atlanta.

Maybe the Seahawks victory will shut up all the experts that have been shouting for a new system for the playoffs as our division is so lousy. Go Seahawks. Make it to the SuperBowl. You are now carrying the banner for our division. What a great run the Seattle big running back made. One of the best I have seen. The guy was flat determined he was going to stay on his feet.

If anything it should solidify the current format. Was the same argument whne the Cards made it at 9-7.

Remember, they said the same thing about us at Carolina.

I agree. If the Saints didn't want to travel for their first game they should have won their own division.

Agreed. If the Seahawks had gotten their doors blown off by the Saints Saturday, I could see the Giants or Bucs getting all bent out of shape, but a win shows that Seattle deserves to be there.

This is my concern as well. There are already some who propose this and IMWO the Seahawks win gives them fuel.

I felt dirty yesterday as a was kinda rooting for the hawks.

I'd be OK with that
hey dude, nice showing today....reminds me of our improbable run in 08' i think our team was much deeper and more talented, except at running back maybe,
lynch looked like a beast unleashed yesterday,

good luck the rest of the way

yeah i felt like i needed a shower too, after i heard the news i didn't watch the game though after each cardinal season i pretty much put away football for the year,
i can't really root for another team.and in the rams hawks poll i voted rams, just because i wanted to see how the rook qb did, man this is so sad, no need in crying over spilled milk i guess, but i can't help but wonder if i had a time machine and could go back and give leinert the reigns at the beginning of the season, i find it hard to believe that he couldn't have mustered a 7 and 9 record, 8 and 8 to take the division? c'mon.....
it should piss off every fan that even a mediocre showing by our quarterbacks could have given us a third straight division title,

guess we'll never know though
whiz you better turn this beat around next year fool cuz you gonna be in the unemployment line if'n you don't....word!:p

I was not happy about the either the Seattle or the Jets win. In my opinion, W's & L's coming into the playoffs have always been a bogus predictor. More important are matchups and overall quality of play down the homestretch.

What I came away with were: (a) the typical platitude that "on any given Saturday or Sunday...", (b) the importance of the home crowd in Seattle (though not in Indy) and (c) matchups (The Jets had a physically imposing O-line. Indy couldn't stop the run. The Colt corners were "physically challenged; Sanchez and his receivers were just good enough to exploit them. Conversely, the Jets' DB's gave Manning fits because they covered closely (& evidently without fear of being flagged very often for interference).

Personally, I thought it was great. And nothing needs to be changed about the playoff formats. This is only the 3rd time in NFL history where a team with a lesser record made the playoffs over a team with a better record. Too bad IMO. This is why every game counts and what makes this league unique. The Giants have nothing to cry about. Next time they shouldn't blow a 21 point lead with 7 minutes left. And the Bucs, maybe next time don't lose to the Lions.

If the Hawks win next week and the Packers advance and the Hawks host the NFC Championship game, you think the NFL and those at Fox's pucker factor will reach critical levels?

In that case the Jets, Packers and Ravens should also be home as they had better records than the Colts, Beagles and Chiefs. It's not broken so why tinker?
