Is that he's seen Drury play at 2B and therefor would seem to be more likely to make the move of Drury at 2B and Segura at SS. Both Owings and Ahmed are liabilities at the plate with career OBP at .268 & .289. Segura is equal to if not greater than Owings at SS, but FAR better at the plate. He may not have Ahmeds glove, but an extra .100 OBP and .150 SLG more than makes up for it in my opinion.

A lineup of this 1 - 8 would be deadly. Not what we do about the pitching, well that's another story.

1.) Segura - SS
2.) Pollock - CF
3.) Goldschmidt - 1B
4.) Lamb - 3B
5.) Tomas - LF
6.) Drury - 2B
7.) Peralta - RF
8.) Castillo - C

I'm not sure it's Hale that is stopping Drury from playing second... But you could be right. I would love to see Owings shipped out in a solid trade that netted us more solid pitching. Same for Tomas.

Hale sets the lineup. He makes Drury a defensive liability by playing him in LF and RF, where he has never played. I think if Drury played his natural positions, 2B/3B, his hitting would improve too. I like Drury, but with him and Tomas in the outfield, well, defensively it leaves a lot to be desired.

I would switch Tomas and Peralta in the Outfield

But you aren't on Tomas, even though Lamb has turned into a greater defensive liability than Tomas. Interesting.

In all honesty... I think both Lamb and Tomas will never be above average hitters over the long run. Hope I'm wrong, but as much as I have doubts about their defense, I also have lingering doubts about their ability to hit consistently...
As for Tomas, if we were paying half what we pay him today, I'd probably be a bit more patient with him - though with serious doubts.
And to be 100% honest, if the Dbacks traded them both in return for high-quality pitching, I'd be on board with that move...
