The great thing about this JJ trade is that the Suns will likely have Atlanta's pick in the 2007 draft. The 2007 draft will be one of the deepest drafts in NBA history due to the new age limit.

Looking over the list at http://nbadraft.net/index.asp?content=mock2007 its going to be a draft absolutely full of big men. They have 8 seven footers projected in the 1st round of 2007, plus another five players listed at 6-11. That's 13 players 6-11 or bigger in the first round. Oden will be the prize of them all.

That pick is going to be worth alot. Either as a pick or in trade.

So does that mean we'd be getting Atlanta's #2 pick in that draft??

I know the suns will probably trade it to Miami for a copy of kazaam and some skittles, but it's nice to dream.

All aboard for the Shag-wagon!!!

Did you note that wingspan. It says 8' 1" but I don't believe it. It just can't be right.

I think it's true. It's mentioned in numerous places.

Only problem is the guy only averaged a little over 9 minutes a game in his second year. Definitely a project.

I thought 2007 1st is top three protected so if that's the case, no.

No way we get the Hawks pick next year but what happens after that?

I'd say the odds are 50/50 that the Suns get the pick in '07. The Hawks will defenitely have a lot of ping pong balls in the hopper.

MAybe in '08 the Suns get the next MJ.

Holy crap, that Shagari guy had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots in 17 minutes one game . . .

Hopefully he'll get some more time from Tubby to develop the next couple of years . . .

My favorite guys who could come out next year are Rudy Gay and Rhonda (sp?) the PG from Kentucky those guys will be stars in the NBA sooner than later.

Two guys, one named Rudy Gay and one named Rhonda. Sadists for parents I am assuming.

But that's off topic.

There is a reason that trading picks is a good thing.

1. There is always the chance that the Hawks will pull a Chicago number, they'll be in the lottery next year, and then have a breakout year in 2007.

2. There is always the chance that you really blow the pick itself. The draft is always a gamble. How many "sure things" have been drafted in the top ten over the past few, that have been absolute busts.

3. Trading a pick for a player you know will work is often the safest and most effective approach, especially when you are a contender.

I think you mean Rajon Rondo, I think he looks very similar to Kevin Johnson in his style of play.

I also like Sergio Rodriguez, he could be a carbon copy of Steve Nash.

Hopefully these guys stay out until the 2007 draft.

If not JCSunsfan, we could always trade the 2007 picks for picks in 2006. The beauty of having picks is that you can always use them to move up. Say for example that Portland has another off year, will they really want another high pick, maybe they pull the same thing as this year and move down to get a player they want put with half the 1st year salary.

he was stuck behind Randolph Morris but if you saw him play against Bogut in the NCAA's he held his own. his arms are ridiculously long, I question the weight he looks skinnier than that but he's so tall maybe he really is 270.

Not athletic at all, sort of like mutombo now but not nearly as good and nowhere near Mutombo when he was young.

The special thing with Nash is not that he is a pass first PG - there are a few others of those in the league, including Jason Kidd and Brevin Knight - it's that he can score with reckless abandon if need be. This makes it ultra tough for defenses, and I have no doubt that Nash could average 25ppg if he wanted to but he doesn't have the need or desire to do that.

I don't get the sense that Sergio is going to be as good a scorer as Nash, but I haven't seen him play all that much (just a few highlight videos that was posted a while back). If I had to make a NBA comparison I'd say Jason Williams but again, that's from limited exposure. I probably wouldn't use a lottery pick on him, but would definitely take a flyer with a mid to late first round pick.

I not too up to speed on the kid's shooting but his court vision looks to be just as keen.

I think we need to keep our draft picks alas the Loul Deng or Andre Iguodala dreams. This team is going to be cashed-stapped for the next few years so building through the draft makes sense. No matter where or which drafts they pick in there are always great values to be had into the second rounds these days. Not only that but we probably should keep our trade exemptions as well seeing as how we may need them as well.
