Last year, the Lakers destroyed the Rox in game 5.

thus the reason for my post which was written in the 2nd quarter when the Lakers were up huge.

I'm extremely curious, if this game plays out for a Lakers win, on how they will show up on Game 6 in OKC. Last year I thought that Game 5 would have been the turn the corner game, and it was not. Yet they won it all. Now I expect them to lose game 6 this year.

Nah... that Laker team wasn't a champion yet and they took things for granted. This team won't. This series ends on Friday, especially because the Lakers continue to get good rest in between games for Kobe.

Oh, no. I didn't mean it in ANY way as a "eh, just like last year." More of a "more of this team lightswitch, unmotivated crap...only with a team that isn't jelling as much, didn't beat the Cavs, and is playing a better team in OKC."

Trust me...I don't have much faith in this Laker squad. I think they could EASILY lose this series, or get swept in the next, just as easily as they could win a title. WOEFULLY inconsistent, and Kobe is beat up to boot.

There are major problems. Chemistry, offensive flow, effort. I keep thinking SOMETHING is going to slap this team in the face and wake them up, and get them to play at their potential. Because they SHOULD be an offensive force, unstoppable...and with the better D they should be favorites going away. Something is dreadfully wrong in LA...bench is turrible right now...Kobe is hurt...Ron can't hit a shot...Fisher is 900 years old, Pau is playing soft and bobbleyhanded. Offensively they are just off. Other than tonight of course.

I am not hopeful that tonight is anything more than a good team taking care of business only because they need to...not kicking into another gear for a sustained run.

agree and disagree. they get out of this series and next is Utah, who they OWN and is banged up. That series goes 5 at most. And then waiting for them is the older than dirt Spurs or tissue paper soft Mavs or Suns? They'll glide to the Finals because the West just isn't that tough, bad juju or whatever it is they have going on and once they get to the Finals, I kind of think if the Cavs get there, they're gonna be completely spent after having to out the Celtics and Magic.

Even with all their problems, I'll STILL be pretty surprised if they don't win it this year. They've just got such an overwhelming amount of talent and an incredible head coach. That will overcome pretty much anything over the course of a 7 game series... as much as I hate to admit it.

Man, that's how I felt last year almost EXACTLY...only I felt they were hungry after the finals loss to the Celtics, and would be itching to get it back right.I feel now they take things for granted, even though Kobe and Fish know how hard it is to defend a title... So same feeling, just flip the seasons around.

I expect a tight game in Game 6, and the Lakers probably lose. I think they win Game 7 though...OKC's youth and tight play in a Game 7 in LA would be the downfall. Jazz, Spurs...bring 'em on. Suns play enough of a speed game still to make it tough.

Speed kills this Laker team (same as last year, btw...rockets played us tougher without Yao). Fast PG, up-tempo team = trouble for Lakers.

Dallas and Denver going down certainly does make a much smoother path to the finals, if they can use the Thunder's youth against them and close them out.

Starters bailed out Phil today. Waay too long of a rest when the second unit is brick city and the Jazz get hot.

And this is why the Jazz were a nice second round opponent. Nice tune up for the offense after the tough defensive Thunder, nice confidence boost for the bigs. Split in Utah, close this out in LA in Game 5 and get some rest.

Don't ef around, Lakeshow.

Nice no-call on the Wesley Matthews pull-down of D. Fish at the end so they could steal the inbounds pass. Glad it didn't help them steal a win.

WTG, Lakers !!

I am fine with the no call. It made up for some of the atrocious fouls called against Utah.

That was the most entertaining Lakers game in quiet some time.

OT-

You gotta love Jerry Sloan. He looks grumpy all the time, like he'd bite your head off, but even after a tough loss like tonight he comes to the mic and answers all the questions like a gentleman.

Contrast that to Popovich who is a condescending tool after a Spurs loss.

Let's go, Lakers !! Knock out the Jazz and move on to the next series. No need to get brooms out or boast about a sweep, just keep on keeping on.

The entire NBA season just flashed before my eyes today when I heard that Pau was sent home from practice because he had trouble breathing...!!!

C'mon, Pau - we need you healthy for the upcoming series. Get checked out, get some rest...
