NBA is likely to release its 2020-2021 schedule in halves to allow for flexibility and the play-in tournament remains a significant part of the league's plans for next season, sources said.

Sources: The NBA bubble in Orlando recouped $1.5B in revenue that would've been lost without restarting the season. Expenses for the bubble were $190M -- $10M more than originally estimated.

Talks on salary cap and tax continue with NBA/NBPA. Had league and union followed the normal formula to determine this season's salary cap -- linking it to overall league revenue -- sources told ESPN that it would have fallen to around $90M -- down from about $109M in 2019-20.

Don't count on hearing an answer by Friday on collective bargaining agreement by NBA and NBPA.

From RealGM:

The NBA and NBPA have a deadline of Friday for either side to serve notice to terminate the collective bargaining agreement, but Michele Roberts told The Athletic that the players will review the league's proposal and does not anticipate a decision on the Dec. 22 start to the season by the end of the week.

“The union and the players are analyzing all of the information and will not be rushed,” Roberts told The Athletic. “We have requested and are receiving data from the parties involved and will work on a counterproposal as expeditiously as possible. I have absolutely no reason to believe that we will have a decision by Friday. I cannot and will not view Friday as a drop dead date.”

Both sides can extend negotiations beyond the Friday deadline.

Ryan Smith, 40, is a lifelong Utah resident and Jazz fan who built a software company that sold for a reported $8B. Smith and his wife Ashley have had a longstanding relationship w/ franchise. Deal includes Vivint Arena, per sources, and pends approval of NBA Board of Governors.

Apparently he was close to buying the Suns before that deal fell apart and he moved on to the Jazz. Damn shame it didn't work.

It looks like the salary cap will be around $109 million and the luxury tax $132 million.

From RealGM:

The salary cap for the 20-21 season is expected to be $109 million with the luxury tax line at $132 million, multiple sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Michele Roberts revealed to The Athletic that the NBA and NBPA are close to agreement on the salary cap and tax.

I really wonder who blew that deal. It would have revitalized the franchise and the city.

The Suns fans would have gone crazy. It would have been as big as Charles Barkley coming to Phoenix.

All we would need is Shawn Marion and Joe Johnson to recreate that 62 win Suns season in 2004-5.

Too bad Leandro Barbosa is coaching with the Warriors.

Nets have become my team in the East.

Slim Reaper is one of my favorite players! This season will be the bomb for Nets games!

It will be fun following them for sure with the Suns connection. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Kyrie Irving.
