Derrick White was huge for Boston, 21 points plus 25 in the game. Poole was -19, Porter was actually -18 despite his great shooting.

This is like Memphis you don't get layups, but Boston made the 3's Memphis missed.

The Derrick White trade was a steal by Boston.

Yeah, but we got Aaron Holiday, who played well immediately when he was out on the court… until Monty refused to play him for reasons beyond anyone.

Suns really need to get a point guard in return if they trade Ayton.

Funny how coaching adjustments and actually being able to, like, shoot and stuff can have such a positive effect on a basketball game. Someone should tell the Suns.

First time in NBA history in the finals a team entered the 4th q down double digits and ended up winning by double digits.

Smart most made 3's in a game in his playoff career, White apparently tied career best with 5 made 3's, and Horford set a career high with 6 made 3's. 15 made 3's from those 3 guys was huge. 15 for 23 combined.

In the local post game show they were saying that it was apparent to them the Warriors were conceding corner 3's out of concern helping on Tatum and Brown. That worked in the Dallas series because Dallas didn't make enough of them but obviously Boston did especially in the 4th. LIAC and I have been pointing that out the whole postseason it seems to be a defensive strategy and they got to the finals doing it so it can't be all wrong but boy did it backfire last night.

Bryan Scalabrini on NBA radio says that Jordan Poole was absolutely exposed in last nights game, especially on the defensive end. He said tevery single time Jordan was on someone they drove right at him instead of waiting for the double team and they owned him. He also said Boston missed several easy shots when he was guarding them too… so it could've been even worse.

He also said the warriors got cocky including Steve Kerr. He said there was a moment in the third and 4th quarter where they could've put them away and kept their lineup in there and instead just did their normal rotation crap that led to the dismantling of their lead.

They also asked why the hell isn't Stephen Curry playing all the minutes.

I mean, for crying out loud, the guys one of the best conditioned players in the NBA we only have a maximum of seven games AND they don't play a game for three days yet keep his normal rotation of minutes especially when he was hot as hell in the first half of the game?

Poole did get lit up but in the 4th quarter the guys who really got torched were shockingly Iggy and Draymond. The quarter started with Iggy trying to draw a charge on Brown in transition, Brown walked no call and then scored. Iggy spent the next few minutes arguing that call. IN the first 3 1/2 minutes of the quarter his man, Brown, had 10 points, 2 assists that led to 5 points, and he deflected a pass by Iggy(that he had a layup on) that led to a layup by Pritchard, 17 points accounted for by Brown in 3 1/2 minutes.

Then Draymond came in with 5 minutes left turned it over and then got torched by Horford game over.

Poole played badly but it was really surprising 2 key veterans were that bad in the 4th. Iggy maybe some rust but mainly he was mad about the no call on the walk and needed to just shut up and play

draymond painting himself into a corner again. In the postgame basically said not worried, they had 3 guys have career days, they are good players but they won't do that the whole series.

If YOU had not gone 2-12 and got torched by one of those 3, Horford, maybe it doesn't happen Draymond. Quit giving the other team motivation

If he had the ability to keep from spouting off he would have demonstrated it long before now. What he gives you comes with a cost; sometimes it hardly feels worth it but more often than not he's a difference maker.

Draymond is the main reason I want you guys to lose. He’s a dirty player who flaps his gums to a ridiculous degree.

That said, I don’t expect Boston to hit 21 3s again.

How many minutes did he play? I mean it's tough. Kerr's job is to make sure his minutes are managed. We witnessed first hand with Booker no matter how young and conditioned a player is it can impact their play if not given timely breaks. Monty playing Book for entire quarters was just ridiculous at times. Book was the best 1st quarter scorer in the league but then usually had down quarters after.

Scalabrini is a bad joke. He’s a ridiculous Boston homer on the telecast. I forget who it was but he pretty said it’s ok if a Suns player gets hurt while playing Boston. That’s a second I lost all respect for him

Then when they came back from commercial he issued an apology. Obviously someone was in his ear

Curry played 38. For him it wasn't IMO the number of minutes but the when. LIAC said it last night Curry was white hot for 21 in the first Q and then Kerr sat him in the regular spot and iced him. When he came back in he was frustrated got a 2nd foul pushing off Smart then a 3rd foul and sat at the end of the quarter leading to Poole hitting the top of the backboard on the last shot instead of Curry having the ball.

3rd q he again has 9 points not a great quarter but very good. But for some weird reason up 12 after FT's for Poole, Kerr brought Iggy in for Steph. Iggy actually made a big 3 to put us up 14 but it was odd Curry still only had 3 fouls. I guess he figured extra few minutes rest so he could come back earlier in the 4th.

By the time Steph got back in 9:35 left so a minute and a half earlier than normal schedule, the lead had fallen from 12 to 5 and Poole(and Iggy) were a huge reason why. Foyle said in the postgame that Payton wasn't actually available, he had no brace on but he was only going to play if it was late in teh clock need a big stop at end of game type situation, he was not going to play in the middle of the game the elbow not there yet.

Poole was so bad he really hurt us 3rd Q and then Iggy had a terrible start to the 4th. Iggy's last PT was 4/24 so he's obviously rusty I guess Kerr didn't have a ton of options, Moody and Kuminga probably too young to play in that spot and Lee sucks and JTA has been awful, but seems like minutes allocation was bad.

I would add Porter played 24 minutes and there were reports after the game that he was visibly limping, Kerr keeps doing that he plays him too long and he gets hurt again. Hopefully Payton can actually play Sunday that will expand the rotation.

My issue with him is you have to be credible. For example late in the game Curry drives in for a layup wiped out offensive foul on Draymond. He immediately tells Kerr to challenge it, then they show the replay and he literally grabbed the jersey of Tatum setting a screen obvious foul. That stuff is important, coaches have to be able to trust players, especially veterans, when they say challenge that it has to be real not just I'm mad we're losing and I got a foul so challenge that. Kerr didn't challenge it the bench waved it off and you could see he was mad about it after seeing the replay

Have to be able to trust guys, Poole did the same thing at least twice he was calling for a challenge on what was obviously a good call.

Boston just pantsed them in the 4th quarter they have to play better on both ends.

Eh I get what you’re saying but I honestly think all players think they didn’t foul. Booker calls for review all the time and he’s usually wrong.

An aside since I googled and none of the videos really agree with each other. Any good explanation on why the euro step is not a walk?

Some arbitrary decision. Here's an interesting article about the legality of the eurostep.

Thanks that's a good one. They were talking about it in the local postgame last night with respect to Poole's turnovers. Adonal Foyle said after the last series and Luka's eurostep I think Poole just needs to learn if you're going forward they probably won't call a walk, if you try to stop and don't stick the landing it's a walk. if you are moving forward and euro it almost doesn't matter how many steps they won't call it.

They showed a euro by Tatum for a bucket, one by Poole where he drew a foul, and another where Williams blocked the shot. Foyle said when I learned to play all 3 of those were walks, but in the NBA now as long as you are going forward it's not a walk but when Poole tries to stop, it's a walk.

I've counted 4 steps on Giannis with no call in some of them he actually changes directions twice. But the article has a point they wanted more scoring so maybe that's why.

Ironically Poole got called for palming last night too, it absolutely was a carry but the article you linked talks about that too.

With Luka even the ones he doesn't walk often look like a walk because he decelerates so much it looks odd.

I don't feel like delighting in the Celtics winning, because the game 1 victory will mean nothing if the Warriors win game 2. Even if the Celtics win game 2 and are then up 2-0, the Warriors might still win 4 of 5. Probably not, but possibly. Only if the Celtics are up 3-0 would I think the series is over. The Warriors could win three straight after being down 1-3, but four? Only if the Celtics choked so badly as to make the Suns' choke look dignified.

I want to see the Celtics go up at least 2-0 before I suppose they will probably win the series. So, I would call game 2 critical and suppose the pressure is on the Celtics. If they lose game 2, they have wasted the first two games.

Traditionally the view is that if you can steal one of those first two games on the road, the pressure falls on the higher seeded team (the Warriors). So, going back to Boston up 2-0 would be great but splitting the opening pair puts the onus on Golden State.
