NFL exec Troy Vincent says the league will look to outlaw the low block: “Every block should be above the knee but below the neck. … This is the right time to remove the low block out of the game.”They’re also going to examine the onside kick.
You cannot, in any world, outlaw the onside kick and retain the integrity of the game. Not unless you simultaneously create an alternative way for the kicking team to try to retain possession. It would kill many games off late and drive viewers away, a big no-no for the shield.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the league has done preliminary analysis work on what an 18-game regular-season schedule could look like. It has to be collectively bargained, but the NFL has begun planning and preparation for what many view as an inevitable move to 18.

A potential big change: NFL exec Troy Vincent says the competition committee will discuss expanding replay assist to include certain penalties such as facemasks. What would the standard be to put down a flag from upstairs? “That appetite will have to come from the membership.”

2 byes incoming.

The death of preseason is upon us.

Rosters will have to be expanded as well.

USFL, UFL have a great instant replay. Takes about a minute and gets things right. NFL is way behind the technology to get the calls right and could get it right. Probably protecting their officials more than the integrity of the game. Just my opinion.

I 100% support getting rid of preseason. But, I bet they don't. Why wouldn't they still keep it at 20 games overall?

That’s a long season and probably will need to be negotiated.

I won’t complain about more football though.

instead of a team bye, they should expand the rosters to 75 and make it mandatory for each player to sit out for two uninjured games at least four games apart.
will create jobs, as some scheduling nerd will have to figure out who sits when...can our backup linemen play well against NY?? or should we sit two against new orleans, and three against NY?

Help on the way: The #49ers plan to activate standout LB Dre Greenlaw in advance of tonight’s game against the #Rams, sources say.Greenlaw tore his Achilles in the Super Bowl and has been working his way back. He’ll ease his way back in tonight.

Or they do a Pro Bowl/NFL Skills Weekend in the middle of the season instead of the end and everyone gets a break.

I really don't want to see games with subpar QB talent. Its bad enough that some teams can't get one guy let alone two.

That's actually smart from Haslam. Too often they move on too quickly (see Mayfield) and the lack of internal consistency crushes them. The idiot owner needs to fix the QB shambles he created.
