Following a solid performance in the postseason by several Northwest Louisiana girls basketball teams, the 2024-25 Shreveport Times All-Area Girls basketball team has been named.
After winning the LHSAA Non-Select Division IV state title, Lakeview leads the way on the annual squad, including getting Dewaski Fuller his first championship ring in six seasons as a head coach.
The All-Area team covers schools from Bienville, Claiborne, DeSoto, Jackson, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, Webster and Winn parishes.
Lakeview, Sr.
Ht: 5-foot-4
Why chosen: Washington was the catalyst for the Lady Gators’ run to the LHSAA Non-Select Division IV state championship. The District 3-1A MVP averaged 19 points, 6 steals, 6 assists and 3 rebounds per game.
Lakeview
Why chosen: Fuller led the Lady Gators to one of the best records in school history and to the state championship. The team finished 31-4 and ended the season on a 22-game winning streak.
Natchitoches Central, Sr.
Ht: 5-10
Why chosen: The speedy Wade averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds in leading NCHS to the LHSAA Non-Select Division I quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual state champion Zachary.
Cedar Creek, Jr.
Ht: 6-1
Why chosen: The District 1-1A MVP was a catalyst for one of the best Lady Cougar teams in the past decade. The former Benton Lady Tiger averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds for a balanced Cedar Creek team.
Ruston, Sr.
Ht: 5-8
Why chosen: The All-District 1-5A first teamer could be counted on down the stretch for the Lady Bearcats and coach LaShanda Cooper, averaging 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Arcadia, So.
Ht: 6-0
Why chosen: The talented Alexander helped the Lady Hornets advance to the LHSAA Non-Select Division IV state championship game with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5.0 blocks and 3 assists per game.
Minden, Jr.
Ht: 6-0
Why chosen: Jefferson helped the Tide to a second-place finish in District 1-4A with a 1-point loss to Northwood the difference between first and second. She averaged 18 points, 17 rebounds and 6.3 rebounds per game.
