The story about how the coin was flipped and then turned over is old news. I've heard the story before. However, it must be new for Bickley. He seems to enjoy pouring salt in wounds. I wonder if he bothered to talk to Paul Coro at azcentral about it.

I really hate defending Bickley.. But that isnt how the article is read as.. It read that Kareem just found out recently about the coin being flipped when he spoke with Colangelo..

After reading it again, you are right. However, it is still just stirring up old news. I never thought Kareem would prefer playing in Milwaukee. I guess Bickley thought he could put another spin on it.

WOW, how you make that a knock on Bickley is pathetic. If any other columnist wrote the article I am sure you would be all over it. Try sidelining your hate and read the article for what it is.

It happened before I was born and I have heard it numerous times. Not trying to be a dick but both of your posts I read as a knock on Bick. Like I said I dont like they guy and perhaps I just misread the way you wrote it.

I know about the coin flip, grew up knowing about it, but I never heard about the jerkface turning the coin over. I am thinking that back in the day, that is how it was done. You caught the coin and put it on your hand. Since it came up tails, maybe Bickley is just creating controversy or something. Nothing else to write about.

When I learned to flip a coin, this is the way we did it, rather than letting it hit the ground. However, you always caught the coin in a closed hand so it's not like you would have the opportunity to decide whether or not to flip it.
Anyway, who knows, we might not have won a championship with Kareem and he probably would have gone to the Lakers anyway. Shaq didn't stay in Orlando, and it's warm there, too.
But I don't spend to much time worrying about a coin toss when I have Horry's hip-check to obsess over.

Alas our Suns are always just good enough to get us excited, and just bad enough to break our hearts.
I'll always be a fan though, I've agonized with the Suns and Cardinals for far too long, I gotta see one championship before I die.

I hate to say it, but that is exactly how we were taught to flip a coin back in the day.
But you kept your hand closed and didn't see the outcome until you looked at it on the top of your other hand.
Jerry and I are around the same age. He knows how it worked. It sounds like he is the one who was playing with Kareem, who probably knows it as well.
Yeah, and even if you didn't see the coin before he flipped it over, you can tell it "came up heads" because it was tails after he flipped it over.
