on the grill,

sweatbox stadium - yes it will be the BEST day of my life when the Cards win a superbowl.
I don't post a lot about them because there's a lot of you quicker and deeper into stats and college players and draft etc.
I do read a lot of the threads and talk to fellow fans in person about the team.
I'm tired of the LONG offseasons - it would be great to see them play at least til the end of Jan.

I've been following the Cards for 23 years, since I was 7 years old a sure fire test to weed out the fake loyal fans is to ask about all time Cardinal heart breaking moments...

You can spot a real Cardinal by the look of Blissful pain and despair that we all have in our eyes...

I was 6 yrs old when I started following the Cardinals & that was 40 yrs ago. I know exactly what I'll do when the Cardinals win a SB. No doubt, I'll be there. When the clock expires, I'll stare emotionless & then begin to weep. I will then lose my voice because I'll scream for 2 hours straight. I was born & raised in Syracuse & I experienced this 2 yrs ago when the Orangemen won the NCAA Natl Championship. There is nothing more emotional than TEARS of joy.

Listen guys, I have been a Gridbirds fan since 1959, so I consider almost all of you guys as newbies :D I don't post a lot because I am more interested in what you guys think than wanting to tell everyone what I think. So, all new Cardinals fans are welcome with open arms in my opinion.

I hear ya. When Warrick blocked that shot to seal the deal, I nearly banged my head on the ceiling from jumping off the couch so high.

My Buddy from Stl came out for his first game in the sweat box....I asked him if he could imagine this stadium at 105 degrees....the look on his face was priceless...I thought he was going to pass out. I asked him because he switched teams to the Rams when they came to STL, after being a diehard Cards fan for 30+ years. I said the true diehards are willing to sit in this roasting hell and watch a team that they bleed with. I for some reason believe that the Super Bowl when we win it will be most sweet for us folks that have stayed in the trenches. Not that the diehards from other places aren't going to savor the success but the ones that have been on the grill in Sun Devil have to be looked at as the True fans. Alot of us came with the team from Stl and some hooked on when the team came here. THey are the true diehards in my opinion. That does not mean that the bandwagon fans aren't welcome. The 12th man needs them as well.

I give you credit for roasting at SDS, but it's easy to be a fan in the hometown. Try walking around in a Cardinals sweatshirt at a Bills game and getting threatened and having beer dumped on you. Anyone can stay loyal to a team that is the hometown team, but it's a lot harder when you're surrounded by Giants and Bills fans constantly ripping on you about not supporting the local teams. Anytime I go out in public with Card shirts on, I get asked by complete strangers "are you seriously a Cardinals fan? They suck!". So believe me, there will be a lot more people for me to rub their face in it when we win than there will be for you. I think it's more "diehard" to remain loyal to a team in enemy territory than in the hometown.

Me and the dude next to me at work both have season tickets to the Cards and talk about them all the time. Other people around us have died laughing at us. We are surrounded by a bunch of Broncos fans and some Steelers fans.

The other day this guy that sits over the wall and has never said anything openly about being a Cards fan, comes over and interrupts us and says: "You mean WE have a chance at the playoffs?"

I thought "Where were you when everyone around here was laughing at us?"

Anyone else notice this?

If we beat Seattle it will be a revival.

Our chance at the playoffs is really way out there as Vick is going to sit this week and probably most of the next game as they have everything locked up and there is no reason to play him. He can spend is time counting his 100 mil. I think Vick's QB rating is less than that of half the other starting QB's in the NFL. His accuracy rating is also not very good. His team does win. I am not sure I would have stepped up with 100 mil for 10 years. I would for Manning as he makes everyone around him better and he will set the new standard for NFL QB's. Also one of the classest players I have seen.

Other: DeAngelo Hall is from Arkansas and lives about 60 miles from me so we get all the latest knews on him. He did not have a complete break or any bone out of alignment. He should be ready to go next year. He is considered the greatest RB in Memphis history. Cannot figure out how we missed him at Arkansas. He has given no indication if he will come out this year or not. I think barring his injury he was comming out. Now, I suspect it is just how fast he can recover and show up for the combines. If he comes out he could easily drop in the draft and sure would be worth waiting for if you got him in round 3 or 4. Round 1 or 2 with his injury may not be there for him.

Have you ever been a Card season ticket holder?

Does buying Direct NFL Season Ticket for the past 7 or 8 years count as a season ticket holder?

I will give you and all the diehards in enemy territory there props...It sucks being the only Gridbird fans for miles. I grew up in Texas from the time I was 10 years old after living in St. Louis my first 10 years...It sucked being in Dallas Cowboy land during there heyday...my brother and I took all kinds of abuse but never hung our head. We always fought the good fight...so here is to the Fans in enemy territory...if we win the Super Bowl...we will all Celebrate.

Cards fan

I was scheduling a delivery with a guy a few weeks ago and he asked me what was the best day/time to come. I told him any day but Sunday, I have Cardinals tickets. He asked "Are you actually a Cardinals fan?" I said yes. He said, "You're the first I met that admitted to it".

My wife and I were in Vegas this week for a mini-vacation. I had on my Cardinals polo and sat down at a Blackjack table. The guy sitting next to me said That better not be a "Phoenix" Cardinals shirt. I told him it was and that I was a big Arizona Cardinals fan. He mumbled something about the Phoenix Cardinals not even being a real football team. He was more accurate than he knew.

I guess I'm lucky. I never really get too much grief. One of my fathers co-workers is a KC fan. And he thinks it's pretty cool that I haven't jumped on the bandwagon of other teams.

I had season tickets for 5 years, first in section 30 and then to section 11. I miss it badly, I live/work in the butt-end of Arizona(work in Douglas live in Sierra Vista). I rarely get to any games anymore and find myself working a lot of Sundays so I don't even get to watch that much on TV. Although I think I might be sick this Sunday...cough, cough.

It sucks, there are very few Cardinal fans down here. In fact I work with mostly Cowboy fans(and one annoying Rams fan who hasn't stopped hearing from me). THe bandwagon could fill up and nobody down here would notice.

I've only been to 2 games this year, preseason versus the Chargers and last week against the Rams. A lot of the old timers from Cards Corner on AOL will tell you I am as passionate about this team as anyone, unfortunately I can't keep up with the daily goings on like I used to. Thank God for ASFN.

My brother "debacle" has a nice story from a bathroom in a local sports bar.

A Rams jersied patron saddled up on the adjacent urinal and upon noticing debacles jersey quiped "It takes alost of balls to be a Cardinals fan".

Debacle responded quickly with "It doesn't take any to be a Rams fan", zipped up and left the bathroom.

Hey, I may be new to this board but I'm a long time, die hard Cardinals fan!!! I'm an Arizona native and root for all of our sports teams. If we can convert a few thousand (or more) by winning, so be it. But trust me, I remember all the people who gave me crap and I know one day I'll be laughing in their faces! Especially the people who gave me a bad time just because they were on the bandwagon of last year's superbowl winner. :p

GO CARDS!!
I agree... but I have seen none of these people, bandwagon types... I get crap everytime someone sees the logos on my car...

Well, do I get to sign up for this??? Those that know me know that I just moved to the valley in April. I was a diehard Titan and Vol fan, still am, but I love going to the games here, tailgating, and talking with yall. This year has been an absolute blast! Yea, I know its still been a losing year, but yall know how to make the most out of losing. And when the wins came, they were a freekin' riot!!

If being a valley newbie and newbie Cards faithful supporter counts me as being Diehard, then add me to the list!!!

P.S. Definitely add my son to this. I was at Jilly's Thursday and I got an autographed pic from Anquan, I asked him to address it to my son and he did. It was one of his Xmas presents this morning and he loved it. I got him EPSN NFL 2K5 as well, he's gonna love watching Josh throw to Q! My son has all forgotten about the Titans, he is Diehard Card now!!!
