He is not wrong. The wife and I just had this discussion. We are getting so annoyed by all these shortened seasons. Then to dog pile on it, we are seeing shorten seasons with these "part 2 breaks" to make it seem like they are longer than they are. It's beyond annoying.
Ugh, I know! High Potential did 7 episodes, did a break, and are only coming back for 4, I think. If you're only running 11 episodes, why the need for a break?

Also, if you're running shorter seasons, why the need for two years between seasons? Double ugh.

I been harping on this for years. a TV season is 20-22 episodes.... with a mid winter break... formally called the fall season and the spring season....but all were season 2..etc
this is why most of my viewing time is spent watching reruns of old shows.
streaming services seem to feel they can maximize their ad revenue by hyping a new series..its the instant gratification thing..but then they withhold the next dose...and then go back to building excitement.

its rare to watch a show these days and not feel cheated when the season is done. especially in those shows where it is so obvious they left so much meat on the bone

I think Cobra Kai found a nice release schedule this final season. 3 drops, 5 episodes a piece, and I believe 4 months apart. Gives people the ability to wait if they want or have that binge weekend as soon as episodes drop. Ive held off on it once I learned it was split into thirds.

It's one thing when the hottest show on TV breaks a little longer towards the end, see Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, etc. But that seemed to cause other shows to follow suit to inflate hype. Fans dealt with those breaks because the shows were red hot when they went away. Keeping them off the air didn't build that anticipation. I think Hollywood has it backwards though and want to believe the wait creates the anticipation and they're in control of it.

No they rebuild the anticipation with social media ads and posts a month before it comes back.
I was a huge GoT fan...they took that two year break...and I was over it..I hate that poo...
Then they followed it up with absolute trash.
But leading up to release date there was posts all over FB and Twitter hyping the season.
I think Hollywood has taken note of the Apple method.
Quality is not as important as marketing.
