The Bridge

I live a few miles from the border and this one is very close to how it is at it's worst. My son is in Las Cruces and has a girlfriend who lives 3-4 blocks from the Bridge. They were surprised that a T V show had the guts to tell this gritty a story.
I like the Mexican cop, interesting they chose a German Diane Krueger to play the insane Detective. I've watched both episodes so we'll see.

Yeah, he's carried the show so far IMO. Great character, well acted.

I just caught up on the first two shows. I'm totally in!
I absolutely love the Lyle Lovett casting, I can't wait to see where that goes.

I like that character too, very authentic. He reminds me of a client of mine.

I was surprised when I looked up her acting roles, she's been in a lot of different stuff. I wonder if she's supposed to be autistic. Her character reminds me of a high-functioning sevant I saw on Larry King years ago who had this innate ability to design insanely efficient slaughterhouses.

Good show so far.

I took it that her problem was trauma related although thinking about it now I guess I might have just written that into the episode myself. I like her quite a bit but I really only know her from Troy, Inglourious Basterds and the National Treasure movies. I like her looks but for some reason I really like her voice. If Troy had been an hour shorter her nude scene probably would have saved the movie for me.

So, I don't know enough about movies or actors or stuff like that. I had no idea when the name Ted Levine was one of the actors. I'm sitting there watching the show and it's bugging me... I know I've seen the dude before but I just can't place him, all of a sudden it clicks.... Jamie Gumb... aka Buffalo Bill. Totally surprised me.

I guess it's like some actors/actresses get identified with certain roles and I have a hard time seeing them as a different character.

Questions

Not sure if this should have a spoiler, but I need to ask a question. So the FBI dude who got whacked at the money drop was in a video on the phone left in the bag with his head. I think the girl in the video is Christina Fuentes who was the bottom half of the body found on the bridge. Anywho, what's the significance of him in the video? And what connection does it make? He was somehow hooked up with Christina and had a ***** night with her and was somehow involved in her murder?? Does any of this make sense??

It makes sense to me. She was a ***** in Mexico before she agreed to come to the U.S. in the trunk of the car and was subsequently killed. My take is that the FBI agent used her services south of the border, in more ways than one. Faced with being implicated in the murder, he followed the killer's instructions.

Thanks Stout. That's sort of what I figured also. Just had trouble putting it all together.

Just watched the latest offering of the series.

Is it sweeps week, or are the ratings hitting the tank? It was extra super-charged for the sex factor.

I quit watching after 5 or 6 episodes. Dislike the autistic detective, the rich wife... Just wasn't well enough paced to keep me into it.

I'm enjoying this season so far. The new whacko/tattooed/shunned Mennonite women reminds me of Malvo.

Beyond the sun.
This season has the same problems as the last. The first few episodes really pulled me in and had me thinking this could be a very brave story. Then after a couple of weeks, the story makes a left turn to eye-rolling bad. Sonja doesn't already have enough problems, now she enjoys sexual asphyxiation? Marco can tie every dirty cop, politician, business man, and the leader of the drug cartel to each other... but he is the only one they all have a moral problem with killing? C'mon. And what is the point of even having a story-line about marble-mouth and the Jesus-freak commune for abducted hot latinas?
