Looking at the bright side...

1) we had a winning record
2) we won the NFC West
3) we won 3 playoff games
4) we won the NFC
5) we got to see our team play 20 games, more than any other fans in the NFL got to see their team play
6) we have a coach that "gets it"
7) we have free agents & offseason issues but the cap $$ available to take care of all of them
8) we have the best WR in the NFL and he is only 25
9) we have one of the best young CBs in football
10) this team gives me the impression that they aren't going to be postseason strangers

And the most important of all, after all these years, we finally have RESPECT!

I've never worried about the respect thing, most of the people who give it don't even know who deserves it.

The teams we played told the story about us, they all respected us and there is only one team left that still thinks we suck.

The Patriots.....

Super Bowl XLIV?

hmmmmm :)

I'm pretty sure we would have held our own just fine if it wasn't snowing, muddy and were fighting for our playoff lives. The best thing that came from that game is no injuries.

Oh I agree now but I doubt the Patriots do.

That would be a fun game to watch, I think we'd win it too.

This offseason is going to be fun and the anticipation for the 2009 season is almost going to be too much to take.

But the people who give it also decide who gets prime time games, better merchandise, more highlight films on NFL Network etc....

Yeah, I know you probably don't care about stuff like that. But I do. I'm sick and tired of people not having a clue about the Cardinals. About not being able to find a cool sweat-shirt while the Cowboys have 37s. About not being able to read articles about the Cards that aren't carbon copies of one's written 18 years ago. Of being called the armpit of the NFL. Of the Cards winning a game and having the talk shows segue it into what the Cowboys or Cornhuskers are doing. I liked how the tone of the articles about the Cards in SI changed over the last 4 weeks.

I like being a fan of a winner and all the trappings that go with it after 20 years of suffering in the desert.

Yes!

This franchise is now no worse than Seattle, San Diego, Carolina, Atlanta, Philly or any of the franchises that have been to the SB but never won it.

That "worst franchise" label can now be passed on to Detroit, Cleveland or New Orleans - Houston and Jax are still too new.

That is correct, sir!

On Super Bowl Sunday, we will never have to see "Arizona Cardinals" scrolled across the bottom of the screen of teams that have never made the Super Bowl!

We can also throw back trash talk to ignorant fans of those teams who loved to say "well how many Super Bowls have you been to?"

Wish we could have brought it home, but, somehow, there is still glory in defeat.

MESA! :thud:
The bright side I thought of this morning was that all those Stealer fans that bet on Pittsburgh to win LOST THEIR MONEY. :D

It will be great to smack back at the 4and9er fans when they try to throw their SuperBowl wins at us: "at least we've been to the SuperBowl in this century!"

There's one other thing on the bright side, as well. Your D started playing together as a unit, and looked like a top five defense in the playoffs. Even in the SB, you started slow, but made a a heck of a goal line stand, and some great halftime adjustments as well. Keep that going into next season and you guys will be tough to stop.

This will actually be a great list in about oh......a month or so.
That's probably how long it'll take to get over this game.

I understand what you're saying but in reality our D played the same all year with the exception of 3 games the Cards simply didn't care about. They even played exactly as I feared in the Super Bowl. Tough run D and a propensity for giving up the big pass play.

There was a reporter from Dallas who was saying the Cards really only played well for a month. That shows how skewed the perception of our team was by the media across the country. The Cards were 7-3 with wins over Miami, a 4-0 Buffalo and, at the time SuperBowl co-favorite, dallas and essentially clinched their division with 6 games to play.

Hardly only playing well for a month. But is shows how much those 3 games altered the perception of the team.

Whis came to the desert to change the culture. Mission accomplished.

When you consider that this year's goal was to make the playoffs, it's been a heckuva year. The future is bright. Now it's up to Rod Graves and Michael Bidwill to re-up guys like Karlos, Kurt, Anquan, A-dub, and possibly Bert Berry.

I wonder if Edgerrin James' future in Arizona is in any way dependent on J.J. Arrington. In other words, if J.J. goes elsewhere, do the Cardinals find a way to keep Edge on board for another year, so they don't have to replace TWO running backs?
