Over/under is 35.

NFL.com just came out with an Unofficial 2011 Free Agent Listing that I assume is designed to get fans to beg the NFLPA to come back to the table so that we don't have to convince ourselves that any of these guys are good.

From that list, I'd probably make a run at Bo Scaife or Reggie Kelly. Both are better blockers and will be a temporary fix until we figure out what this offense is going to look like. I think we'll sign a guy like Kelly or Desmond Clark anyway.

I'm kind of with Duck: The TE position doesn't need to be "fixed" because there's no real TE position that the Arizona Cardinals use. It's like buying a boat even though you don't live near water; you're promising yourself that because you made this investment that you'll have to use it. I'm not sure that's the case, since we have had a hard time putting players in a position to be successful.
35? No way. Do all TE combines catch that? I was thinking 20.

Bo Scaife, Des Clark, Reggie Kelly? Yes, please.

I like these options.

Nice analogy but I disagree. We owned a boat for years and went camping every weekend for years to utilize said boat.:)

Jason Witten lead NFL TEs last year with 94 receptions. 13 TEs had 50 or more receptions, including Jermaine Gresham, who didn't play football at all in 2009.

Andre Roberts had 24 receptions playing part-time, and he came out of The Citadel.

I assume that you showed some interest in camping and boating before you purchased your watercraft. Certainly more than the Arizona Cardinals have shown in the TE position.

What does any of that have to do with Housler? A Cardinal TE and guy you said was a two year project?

Wager: 25 catches.

No bet.

Because I don't believe that he was a good pick, nor will he be used.

36 NFL TEs had more than 21 receptions in 2010. 25 receptions would put Housler in the prestigious company of Fred Davis, eight games of Jermichael Finley, Andrew Quarless, Zach Miller, and Jeff King.

If we wasted a 3rd round pick on a guy who can't/won't block and isn't even going to average 2 receptions a game as a rookie, then we're pretty much in agreement on the quality of the choice.

Wait, you think he will catch more than 25?

You don't set the over/under to win; you set the over-under to get action on both sides. You better expect more than 20 receptions from your rookie third-round pick. I expect more than 20 receptions from Ryan Williams this year.

Heck, it seemed like Hightower dropped more than 20 passes last year.

Mostly, I don't want to cheer for the failure of a draft pick. Anything less than 25 receptions even as a rookie for a TE who can't block would be an abject failure.

If you want to take the "under" on 25 receptions, that's a bet that I'd make and walk away from laughing.

I was hoping you would take under 25.

No way. I'm not going to cheer for a draft pick to fail.

Now, if you want to go "over" on Ryan Williams eclipsing 1100 yards this season, I could take some action there...

Crazy talk. How about at wager that the Cards are in top 25 in rushing yards? :)

Well the camping was mainly so we could go boating. Then we got smart and moved to a lake community. So yes, we put the cart before the horse but in the end it worked out just fine. :D

Cards are going to go all Bellicheck in utilizing their TE's.

No Mulli I will make no wager on this. :)
