The defense is going to suffer big time by losing Dwash and Dansby. No question. I think Minter will do well, but I think the D will be hurting at least the first few games.

The defense will be worse but I have hope for offensive improvement this season. I am predicting 1 less win.

I don't know yet - I think the NFCW improved overall- which should not have happened with so many combined wins. but it did. I still don't think it was as much oline problems as pass happy play calling just like Whiz. when we started to balance the play calling we started to win- I mean DUH

I believe in a bread and butter run play, a run you can execute with your eyes closed. The Niners do it- The seahawks do it and it is the engine of their success. continuity and consistency. Ellington did not perform that function- Mendy did- I hope for Dwyer but he did not hold up for the steelers and they replaced him.

I think we will pass more with veldheer and cooper in there- and be feast or famine and lead the division in turnovers. Our defense has had to overcome such stupidity for years now- They would be rested and more dominant if we just balanced the offensive play calling to even 55% pass- but we won't and die an exciting death- while the Niners and Seahawks enjoy a boring success in 2015.

Was there another Mendenhall in the league last year? Ours was 17th in carries but only 29th in yards. He only had one carry of 20 or more yards and if he's the bread and butter of your offense, your offense is in trouble IMO. Ellington getting more carries had a lot to do with our offense improving, not Mendy and his 3.2 YPC.

Worse on defense.

Better on offense.

Prolly a little regression in my opinion to about 8 or 9 wins.

yea

I never said he did it that well- But he took the early down hard touches - setting the table for Ellington's role and also play action passes. I don't think Ellington would hold up to NFCW defenses nor force them to adjust in the middle as the early down back?

Yea we need thunder to his lightning. Mendy was the bread and butter to OUR offense not my offense last year.

I think we need thunder to Ellington's lightning too but it was never Mendy IMO. I don't know if Dwyer or Stepfan will give us that this year but hopefully between the two we'll have a bull to go with our skilled back.

long term

we won 10 games - and I'm not sure we replaced Mendy's production, as meager as it was- it gave Palmer a chance at play action- that he needs- looking forward to pre season- would not had minded mendenhall in training camp at 25 years old- everybody gets better after a year in the system - except RB's? seems to be the BS floating down stream.

Hard to say. I think we added some great talent this year, and will be returning talent from injury.

Our record could be better or worse, but no matter, I think we'll be a better team. Hopefully we win the right games and get some help and squeak into the playoffs... then it's anybody's game.

I think you guys will be a better team.

Hey Ronin, It's good to hear from you. If I recall, you are a 'Niner's fan. How are things going up your way this off-season?

Yes I'm still a Niners fan. Between everybody going to jail and holding out for a new contract, the off-season has been okay.

I think that is an astute assessment. Our Defensive Line and Secondary should be better, but the D may take a step back due to the loss of both Dansby and Washington. (Two very good ILB's).

The offense should be much better than overall last year. Many more weapons, more speed, better O-line, and vets are a year into the playbook now.

Overall a better team though.

Like you said Cat, 2 great ILB are gone. I think that's what is going to hurt the whole team, unless Minter can fit atleast a few inches into Danby's shoes. If he can, I think the D will take a little step back, but not enough to hurt the whole team that much. Minter needs to step up and become a leader. I hope he can do that with the help of Foote and what he learned for the sideline last year.
