Is he waiting for all the steroids to get out of his system? Barry saying he is not coming back is per ESPN.

According to Bay area people Bonds is still subject to random testing even if he's injured, and in fact has been randomly tested more than once this year. Forget where I heard it but I know I heard it.

Players who are not active do not get tested.

You may be right, there's an article in the paper today on Bonds that says that claims Bonds has been tested this year are not true and that other MLB players are openly suggesting Barry is staying out all year to avoid tests.

That said, the Giants trainer said while he's surprised at the statement by Bonds he's out all year(apparently Conte didn't know) he says the claims about avoiding tests are nonsense, he says that none of the tests MLB uses can detect steroid use beyond a reasonable time frame so unless Bonds is still using, none of the alleged past use with Balco would show up on any tests and he says that's been true for months now.

Seems to me to be effective at all random testing should be expanded to allow MLB to test certain players they have reason to suspect, even if they are in fact out with injury. I don't doubt Bonds' knee problems, local writers say they've seen him hobbling around and they've seen how bloated the knee gets on off days they all believe he's telling the truth about the knee.

All I hear about is how he is conditioning himself on the eliptical and stationary bike...not exactly a 'bulk up' routine.

I expect a much 'slimmer' version of bonds next year.

If he never comes back I won't shed a tear.

He looks the same now but he's not in game shape. He'd be slimmer regardless, his doctor, Art Ting, has told him to lose weight to protect the knee, but I do agree he'd have slimmed down anyways now that he's presumably not doing the Balco routine.

I kind of feel the same way, I was always a Bonds fan but now that it's pretty clear he cheated I really don't want him to pass Ruth and then pass Aaron, I think it would really taint the game.

Ever the attention ***** that he is, we don't hear jack from him for weeks, and then Palmeiro gets popped, and Bonds makes his announcement on the same day. I hope he comes back and every pitcher goes inside and aims for his arm brace.

Not to mention his completely classless rip on Ruth last year. I've never wished injury on any player ever, but Bonds really tests that for me.
