Consistently and pound for pound the funniest show on TV.
In my humble opinion.

I thought it was teh funniest show in the world when Kilborn was host. I can't believe that Stewart took it up a few notches....

BTW - Vance Degeneres was teh funniest anchor they ever had. Where did he go? Also, I haen't seen Mo Rocca or Steve in a while either....

Am I the only one here who watched the Dennis Miller show (CNBC)? From the ratings, it appears I was. I really liked that show. :(

Jon Stewart stepping down, a nation weeps

http://www.azcentral.com/story/bill...t-daily-show-leaving-comedy-central/23198399/

on Stewart is stepping down later this year as the host of "The Daily Show," he told his audience during the studio taping Tuesday night, and Comedy Central later confirmed. It was a wretched bit of news that follows a bad week for media in general.

Stewart is brilliant, insightful, daring, more influential than Fox News would ever give him credit for (except, oddly, his sometimes-TV-pal Bill O'Reilly) and, most important, funny. Because Stewart has maintained ever since he took over, in 1999, that his version of "The Daily Show" is first and foremost a show about comedy, not news.

But the news can be, you know, funny.

Just Monday night Stewart, doing what he does best in the smartest, funniest fake-newscast show, ever (sorry, "Weekend Update"), took on the Brian Williams controversy (he took fire in a helicopter in Iraq, except he didn't, and he's working all that out) while also chiding the media feeding frenzy as the "NBC Nightly News" anchor's career circles the drain. Somewhere along the line Stewart realized that if the news itself isn't always great comedic fodder, the delivery of it almost always is. Somewhere, someone at MSNBC or Fox News or CNN or, sigh, the "NBC Nightly News" is saying or doing something stupid.

It has been a comfort to know that Stewart would be there to make fun of it. How many times have you heard a reporter or a politician say something stupid, or propose an insane bill, only to hear someone say, "I can't wait to see what Jon Stewart does with this?"

The nation weeps? Puh-lease. I heard the news and was like, 'meh'. Another smarmy comedian's stepping down from his show? Not another one! Doesn't network TV trade them around their shows like baseball cards?

Don't agree. This is not some average run of the mill comedian. This is a guy who helped the show with 12 Emmys and IMO is one of the smartest comedians on the planet. He had an eye for talent if you look at all the comedians he hired for his show that went on to bigger things.

He will be sorely missed. As others said, especially during an excruciating election season.

I liked craig too, I'm sure they can sub in someone good and keep it moving.

I'm pretty sure he's been hosting the show for 16 years. That's a long time to hold onto a baseball card.

Trevor Noah Named To Lead Post-Jon Stewart ‘Daily Show’

http://deadline.com/2015/03/trevor-noah-jon-stewart-daily-show-1201401007/

Comedy Central made it official this morning: Trevor Noah, who has appeared on The Daily Show just three times, is taking over as host when Jon Stewart steps down. Word that Noah was the network’s choice got out Friday. Here is today’s Comedy Central announcement:

Trevor Noah has been selected to become the next host of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning The Daily Show.

Noah joined The Daily Show in 2014 as a contributor. He made his U.S. television debut in 2012 on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has also appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on either late-night show. Noah has hosted numerous television shows including his own late-night talk show in his native country, Tonight with Trevor Noah.

He was featured on the October 2014 cover of GQ South Africa and has been profiled in Rolling Stone, Newsweek and The Wall Street Journal, and by CNN and NPR’s Talk of the Nation, among others. He continues to tour all over the world and has performed in front of sold out crowds at the Hammersmith Apollo in London and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

I like Noah and am a fan of his stand-up. He should do well.

I think he will probably do well and I will give him a shot. I am still disappointing a bit though. Even though a rumor it would have been epic for someone like Tina Fey to takeover. Also, if John Oliver hadn't already gotten his own show....he would have been a shoe in IMO.

It will be interesting to see if he can sell a non-comedic point of view. One thing John was brilliant at is being able to weave in comedy with a serious take on an issue. I just can't picture Trevor doing that despite the pieces he has done on the show.

Either way...it's will be a sad day when John is gone.

Looks like they changed the show up a bit in the new year.. Noah now has an intro before the theme starts and now stands during the opening jokes.

What do people think of Trevor?
