We know the record, but who isn't salivating at the idea of what Dennis Green could do with the 2007 Draft and FA? I am a 40 yr fan and HC Denny Green has hasd the best 3 yr Draft for any Cardinal team I can remember. That has to figure in to the HC decision.

It doesnt matter one bit though who he has drafted if you cant coach them up correctly or who he has brought in FA when you cant put it all together on the field and translate that into wins.

I look at Dennys time here in one way. Thanks for setting up the next coach for success now dont let the door hit you on the way out.

I agree on the coaching aspect. I am saying that Dennis Green is the only HC who drafted well. Lets not discount that.

Oh I agree. In fact thats what makes his faults that he does have all that much more frustrating.

4 reasons to retain:

1. Players have said they love him and play hard for him
2. The team is A LOT more talented
3. Firing him might set us back while retaining him might be enough to get us into the play-offs (we lost a bunch of close games this year and the team is showing signs of improvement)
4. (and possibly the biggest reason for the Biddies) $2.5 million is A LOT OF SEASON TICKETS. Is keeping Green enough to piss off 1000+ season ticket holders from re-upping?

4 reasons to can him:
1. Game planning
2. In-game decision making
3. Ego sometimes takes precedence over smart football
4. He is a great player talent evaluator but he sucks at evaluating assistants and coaches - only Clancy and Coach K. seem like they deserve to remain on the staff.

Of course it does, he has ALL THIS TALENT AND STILL CAN'T WIN!!!! He needs to go. Just because you can get talent, doesn't mean you can utilize it.

He doesnt micro-mannage ehhireseople to do their jobs and xpecs them to do it, That includes, clock and time management.
The team plays well under him. Now that it seems we have our "routine" rolling, pull him? No way I say let him finish what he strted or we will be back on track one, trying to learn new coorinators stuff after we finally startedto show what we could do, nowthat we've got Greens down?
No.no.no! Another smart draft with the right FA's. with our attitude ("HATORADE") gotta love that..
We'd be fools to mess this up now. We're .oving. We're moy an leite team yet but the ":elites" don't just pencil in a win anymore, they take a serious concerned look now. They acrually game plan FOR US!
don't mess with it. That;s badju-ju/

It is kind of like the Tampa Bay situation. Wyche brought in players, got the thing turned around.

Dungy came in and got them coached up, turned the thing around finally to being a winning program (with Wyche players). Dungy leaves, Gruden comes in and puts them over the top, but they can't maintain success.

Denny has done our Wyche roll of getting talent in but doing nothing with it...I hope we can get a Dungy/Gruden clone who can coach up players and get them over the top at the same time.

That's a good assessment but at least Wyche got the Bengals to a Super Bowl.Dungy never has. I think the Cards will have plenty of good candidates because other coaches will see that there is alot of talent on the roster and they are ready to win. THe pickings were pretty slim when Denny took over.

I see a lot of people wanting Green to stay with the organization in a GM type roll...With his short hook on assistant coaches and always bringing in "his" guys, do we honestly think he'd bring in a HC with NO ties to him? Also, what kind of leash would he keep the HC on? I'm not so sure it would be a great move to make him GM.

I am, however, for keeping him through next year as HC. I think he's finally been humbled and, since then, has had the team playing much, much better football. He seems to finally have the right assistant coaches in place, also, though I'd look at changing the secondary coach to someone that's not afraid to teach those guys some toughness and better techniques.

I will roll with what ever happens, but I still think Green has been VERY bad with everything other than drafting & F/A signings.

I would like Denny to stay with the team in some capacity. My best idea would be to have Fassel as OC for a year and then promote him to HC. Then Denny could take some position in the front office.

Fassel is a fossil or should be. He took a talented Giants team and gradually beat it down.

I say keep him! As long as the team keeps improving and not going backwards you have to let him stay and keep building! I know every one wants to win now! but some times thats not as easy as it sounds. let him keep on doing his thing!
