hkflix.com is where I bought that set that Chaplin has. It's the one that comes in the silver tin box, which I did not send to him for shipping purposes. According to them, it's out of print.

I buy almost all of my Chinese movies from dddhouse.com. They're located in HK, but they're cheaper...even with the shipping included. The site looks a bit odd, but I bought movies like Shaolin Soccer and Hero from there, and they are good with returns.

I am getting the 6 disc set from dddhouse.com

It has the original cantonese language track, as well as 6.1 DTS sound.

I wonder what it means by HD Remastered. Does that mean it's HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, or is it some type of gimmick?

Are you talking about the 6.1 DTS sound track? DTS has richer sounds over Dolby Digital.

edit... I see what you are talking about for the HD Remastered. It probably has to do with the DTS 6.1. Do your disk have this audio track?

Ya, I got that after I double checked the site. The remaster has to do with the audio tracks. I haven't heard any sort of video improvements from other sets.

Has anyone seen Infernal Affairs? It was released here in the States on December 7th.

Looks like the American version has a lot going for it. Great director and strong cast so far.

I live in Hong Kong so that I have seen Infernal Affairs before. But I still haven't seen The Departed.

Warner Bros. had bought the copyright of "The Confession of Pain". The Scriptwriter is the same person (Felix Chong and Alan Mak). And the sources said that DiCaprio will be the main actor of the film.

Probably one of the best movies I have ever seen. Simply amazing and the last ten minutes is what makes it one of the best endings in any movie EVER! Plus it was filmed in Boston which is the greatest city in America!

Funny, I liked it up until the last ten minutes. And the love interest part of the story was ridiculously bad. I don't think it deserved best picture.

The cast was excellent, but the story lost me at the end.

OK maybe I'm not as dumb as I thought because the story lost me at the end too and my girlfriend?

I'd heard there was a big twist at the end but they threw so many things in the end I came away thinking I'd need to watch it again.

Good but very convoluted. To be fair, I hate DiCaprio and I'm not a huge Matt Damon fan.

The only thing I could think about at the end was that Dignam was behind it all ... ultimately playing everyone. He knew that if he'd fight with Sullivan he'd be suspended leaving Sullivan in charge of the undercover's ... and that ultimately puts the two snitches in contact ...

Not sure if that's how I was supposed to take the movie, but that's how I did.

while I completely agree with the first half of your post, I thought last year had some exceptional films that were deserving of higher honors than a Scorcese movie on auto-pilot.

Out of all of Scorcese's films, IMO Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, After Hours (severly under-appreciated IMO), Casino, The Aviator, and even The Color of Money were vastly superior films to The Departed and even those that weren't as successful were still more ambitious, if that makes any sense.

who exactly would villify him and why? Villify seems to be an extremely odd choice of words here as I can't think of ONE person in the industry that deems Marty to be lower in estimation or importance because he's never won an Oscar. Now, if you said the Academy Voters should been villifed for having never recognizing his earlier works of greatness, that, I and pretty much everyone I know could agree with. I mean EVERYONE in the film community knows he's been jobbed multiple times and people don't place blame on him, rather the blame is squarely on academy voters who continually showed they're contempt for outside the box film-making, much like they did with Hitchcock and Kubrick, two other legendary directors who never got a whiff of Oscar. Now, if you think that Marty would have deserved such scorn, do you think some people actually villify those directors as well? If anything, it was almost like an unspoken badge of honor for Scorcese to be in the same league as those two directors.

Did you think it felt long or did the story move along for you? I've watched it thrice and didnt think it was long either time.

What did you think of Jack? Some bag on his performance as cashing a paycheck, but I liked 'em.
